His a****en is vast and he seems to thoroughly enjoy teaching. He lectures and tries to engage the class in utopian discussion. Pleasent demeanor and professional. If you like poetry, then you will be happy in his class. Regardless if one does not, one will not endure a painful experience with yet another inept Hunter College "teacher."

He is a very nice and funny professor. He goes easy on you if you know how to BS your way through a paper and can come up with a few nice ideas. He is super understanding and really great. Take his class if you can.

He is very open to your interpretations. He is very witty and has an odd usage of the word "fine" that I just to joke with him about. We had a midterm, two papers 5-7pgs, and a final project due on the final date. Instead of a final we turned in the projects. We had a party and he brought in wine and cheese. It was great!!!

Utterly soporific. I think he thinks he's yoga instructor. "It's just...greeeeat....right?" He could do well to talk above a whisper. Didnt find him a hard grader, tho he does expect alot on exams. Utterly boring, and a tad inflexible in viewpoints. Seems like a nice guy, but if u have an *actual* interest in subj, take another.

He's ok, a pretty good professor, although a bit bi-polar. Sometimes he'll be nice as pie, wanting to hold discussions and crack jokes. Other times he's very moody. He's also a little bit holier-than-thou side, so if you're not an English major, I'd stay away.

He's visibly and audibly enthusiastic about the material so it rubs off on you too. He's very articulate, has a great sense of humor, and ultimately wants you to learn and do well in the class. And he's very approachable, so you can work out any issues concerning the course with him. I'd definitely take him again. Highly recommended.

You definitely need a cup of coffee for this class, because he'll put you too sleep. Can be interesting sometimes oes off on tangents and discusses his favorite poets the whole time. Don't recommend him. His view is the only one that counts, extremely hard exams, unflexible papers

OK. Yes. He is a tough grader -- well, I would say that he is somewhat inflexible in *what* he is looking for on a test or a paper ... which is annoying a little bit. His tests are *MUCH* harder than you think they'll be. That being said -- he is an EXCELLENT teacher ... his lectures are AMAZING. He's worth taking, despite the hard work required.

He's very good and enjoys discussing the poetry. He's flexible with deadlines and works with you when you need the help. He is terrible about returning emails, however, so follow up in person when you can! Other than that, he's worth taking!

He's great! Insanely articulate, insightful, obviously passionate about poetry -- everything you'd want in a poetry prof. Very nice man & extremely lenient with deadlines. He spends a majority of class time TALKING, but it's ok because he has a calming voice & intelligent things to say. Take good notes & you'll get a good grade. Highly recommended!

I often feel like standing up and applauding after the lectures. Do I really need to say more? OK, I'll add that if I was single I'd just be waiting to graduate and make my move on him. I just want to sit by candlelight, with him and glass of good wine, and talk poetry.

Not as good as I initially thought. His interpretation is the only one, or else you get a really bad grade.He has his favorites, his "A" students even if they write BS and are not even good writers. Disappointed that I took him, although I did learn about American poets. So that's the only good thing that came out of it, but not my grade....!!!!
