There are 4 exams , every exam is 75 question multiple choices. The exams are very confusing, he did not do any reviews before the exams. He give extra points but you will not benefit from them. A lot of homework, it is hard class in general and the Instructor is not helpful at all. If English is not your language the class is gonna be harder.

Once you get past his sarcasm, he's an awesome, hilarious teacher and is very knowledgable in his field and is very good at teaching it. Compared to other freshman level classes, though, his first year Politics class is difficult.

Took him for US Government and Politics. I thought it was extremely easy. You write 4 2-page papers, all pretty easy. There are 4 tests including the final. He emails you the powerpoint notes before each section and they are filled out with a couple blank spaces in them to fill in. Tests are all multiple choice. He was laid back, funny, and nice.

Dr. Elrod was definitely one the best teachers at Harding. He was certainly difficult, but you'd learn a great deal and he put much effort into his work. I will sure miss him.

The people on here making comments are ignorant. Elrod is an awesome teacher IF you don't want to be lazy. I was lazy going in and lazy coming out but I learned to respect him, don't sleep, and GO to SI sessions and the class is a breeze. Also do the quizzes on the textbook link online. Tests come straight from questions off of there.

Dr. Elrod is hilarious. He's an excellent teacher and has a great sense of humor. His tests are hard, but the maps really help you make up the grades. Do all of them, and READ THE TEXTBOOK!

Totally bias. A political science professor should at least TRY to be non-bias and teach his class that way but Elrod has always made it crystal clear that Liberals are brilliant and Conservatives are idiots. He also is very bias in the way he allows for discussion and question. He is also very bias in what topics he allows. If GOP bashing, ok.

If you're not a baby and actually READ what you're assigned to read, classes with Elrod are worth the discipline you must put into them. I've learned more in Elrod's class than any other, though with more difficulty than ever. If you want a kicked-back semester don't take him, if you want to challenge yourself, do.

If you suck up, he'll like you. Very few questions are from the notes, mostly from the book. Extremely liberal and very sarcastic, dry sense of humor (if you would even call it that). I would suggest going to tutoring or SI.. it helped my grade and understanding tremendously.
