Comment:

Environmental Planning. This class is lecture heavy, but the students do at least four lectures to the class on the reading material, throughout the semester. This really forces you to read the material and learn it. He's laid back and fun, and helps along by answering questions that we can't during the lecture. Overall great class.

Comment:

Professor Hafen is an overall good teacher. He is passionate about planning & environmental issues which makes the material interesting. Unfortunately, his lectures are heavily reliant on student presentations each class, 2.5/3 hr course. I find this style to waste a lot of precious time as you aren't taught by the professor, only guided.

Awesome professor! I loved the field trips. All content in the tests is straight from the lectures and powerpoints. I love his style of lecturing because he says funny things in between. I will remember stuff about wetlands for a very long time.

Tough class! but it's worthwhile if you put effort into it. He posts power points and the homework is from the book and a few articles. a few tests which are fair and field trips that you have to turn in write ups.. and they are somewhat challenging if you're not detailed. Overall I really enjoyed this class.

Great class but the tests are HARD. It's mostly multiple choice but you have to make sure you study and read the book because he puts trick answers and lots of b&c or all of the above to make you second guess it. Other than that he's a great teacher and never dull. Just make sure you know the stuff and you'll be fine.

Many comments states that this is an easy class-print out notes to take on quizzes - THIS IS CHEATING. This is a VERY HARD online class. My GPA is 3.85. This class will lower that. Never studied so much in one class just to get by. CTA answers are really based on the TA's opinion. Never got more than a 6. Would NOT rec this online class!!!!!!!!!!!

This is one of my worst and HARDEST online class I have ever taken. I study in this class more than any other class and still get B's and C's on quizzes. I was excited to study geography, but this class- STAY AWAY. CTA are very biased based on your TA's opinion, ave pts a 6 out of 10. I'm hoping to get a C out of this class, there goes my GPA!

Professor was quite rude when asked for help. Online class & you aren't allowed to use notes, "e-text" or it's "cheating". Class seems intentionally designed to be more difficult than necessary. Before you assume I am a poor student, I have a 4.0 GPA & am a working adult. Best advice I can offer is to AVOID, online at least.

Comment:

A lot of material to read. Very, very hard to retain so much information. You have to be ahead of schedule otherwise it is impossible to be successful in this class. The critical thinking assignments also requires a lot of time to get it done. If you plan ahead you can get a A. The material is also a little bias.

One of the toughest courses I've had. The CTA's are impossible to get full credit for since he always takes off for some small error without an explanation. If you have computer problems DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE ONLINE. YOU WILL FAIL.

Good overview course. Text is well-written and interesting but too detailed to absorb from computer. I printed chapters and highlighted as I read. CTAs were thought-provoking. Some easier than others so pick and choose carefully. Frequent assignments kept me from procrastinating. Reading would have been overwhelming otherwise.
