Prof. Hugen gives quizzes almost every time he teaches something new, but he will tell you when the quiz is. He explains things very well as well as uses his personal life as examples. Homework is online and is graded the day of the test.

worst professor i have ever taken. His lectures are pointless, you will have to teach yourself everything. Lectures seemed easy and doable but as soon as the study guide is passed out, it is nothing that was covered in lecture. Cried many times while studying. Tough grader, no extra credit.

Wouldn't take again. His lectures were so boring and wordy I would often lose motivation and get lost in the lecture. Majority of the learning I got was from doing homework and that had no correlation with the tests.

Professor Hugen is by far the best math teacher I have had in 2 years at Cerritos. Summer class went by fast for Math60. Gives homework on MyMathLAb with due dates and quizzes on there all for credit. Do that and attend every class and you will pass. He is funny and will explain everything to you with fun metaphors to help remember. Take this man!

The hardest class ive taken, but he's funny and uses his life and family to explain things.. I've learned a lot.. I do recommend you take him, but I don't recommend to take during the summer....

He doesn't teach math traditionally, instead he tries to come up with his own way of explaining things which gets confusing. When it comes to homework/quizzes/tests, the problems are WAY more difficult that what he covers during lecture. My notes didn't help me on HW whatsoever. Started the semester with close to 40 people, ended with about 12.

This is the hardest class I've ever taken. I barely passed. I felt like I was learning most material on my own. Only take him if U plan on working alone for the most part. The reviews have nothing to do with the exams. Exams are way too difficult, some were not completed by the entire class.

Professor Hugen made the experience amazing!! He has been by far the best math teacher I've had so far! he ACTUALLY TEACHES you in ways that are easy to understand/learn by applying real life scenarios/strategies, he is not like others who just ILLUSTRATE math & expect you to learn math. He is an amazing person, but even better teacher!

Tough subject, tough class, tough grader. Overall, he's very fair, helpful, funny, and keeps math interesting. Explains stuff very well. He's not easy, but then again, if he's too easy, you'll just struggle more in Trig or Precalc. Overall great guy and a great class. You should definitely take this class.

At the beginning of the semester he says he does not give extra credit but he does. You must do all the homework in order to pass the class. He really does care about hes students. very easy to understand hes lectures and provides help if you do not understand will not put you down if you ask whatever question like other math professors Ive had.

Great professor. Math is a tough subject for me, but he made it clear and understandable. His lectures are fast- paced, but straight to the point. Lots of homework, but beneficial. Helpful study guides and reviews in class. He is approachable and wants everyone to pass the class. He has a good sense of humor and made class enjoyable.

I had such a hard time with his class, it's a lot of work! A lot of homework which he will only collect about 20% however if you don't do the homework you will never pass this class. One thing that I didn't like that was all his tests were exactly like the study guides. Always make sure you know how to solve the study guide and you'll pass.

Comment:

Gets distracted easily when teaching but is pretty clear when explaining problems. If you ask for help, he will help. Funny, gives a lot of homework but for your benefit especially if you don't understand how to solve math problems the first time or struggle with math in general. Little mistakes on quizzestests hurt.

I don't know how people say he's a good teacher. You stay in class listening to lectures that sometimes don't make much sense and then when it comes time to do the hw his lectures are somewhat irrelevant to what's on the hw or exam. His class can get funny at times, but I didn't go to class for a comedy show. You've been warned.

Out of all my classes for the spring semester, this one was the hardest. Professor Hugen is a great guy and he will help you out whenever you ask for it, however his tests are hard. Don't bother studying the study guides because on the test there will still be questions not similar to the homework or study guides. Tests will hurt your grade!

Comment:

HARD HARD CLASS!! I was so put off by this teacher the whole semester. Worked super hard only to get bad grade after bad grade. Makes you do 10 chapters of HW but only collects 5 random ones on test days. If you want to solely focus on this class, only take this one because I felt like I was learning math on my own using the book.
