His class wasn't easy, but he is a really good teacher and constantly makes everyone laugh. If you don't go to the lectures you won't do well, some of the topics in class are tough but he has videos on his website and practice hw/quizzes. HE IS AN AMAZING HUMAN BEING and I always looked forward to his classes.

He really was something amazing. Even when I was tired and sleepy, I still dragged myself to his class cause I felt so much regret if I ever didnt go. I love him! A day without Econ really is a day without sun.

Professor McNeil is probably one of the greatest professors I've had at IVC. He's a literal gem for providing students with a website & youtube videos they can refer back to whenever unclear about a topic. I recommend you utilizing the practice quizzes online as well. He truly enlightens you about Econ & gives you insight about our world.

McNeil in general is very spontanoues. His class consists of homework, quizzes and tests. The quizzes are in class and are only one class period before the test an then he takes the quizzes and you don't see your grade until the next week. How are we expected to learn from the quiz if you just take it from us and not give it back? Tests are hard!

Listen, I HATE econ very very much. Key to getting an A in this class is WRITE EVERYTHING THAT LEAVES HIS MOUTH and of course read your notes a 1,000 times. If you write down everything and memorize your notes, than an A is extremely possible. There are 5-7 short Hw's, 5 Quizzes and 4 tests. He drops one of each. And watch all his videos!!

Hes an okay teacher, but during his lectures, he gets so far off topic so frequently, it makes it difficult to take notes on specific things. It took me the first homework and quiz to learn how to study for his class. Its called ACDCEcon on YouTube.

This course is a double edged sword, ultimately you will enjoy the professor, he is very hilarious and passionate about Econ, but beware because "HIS CLASS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!" He teaches in a very unique way of economics that many people have had trouble understanding. Homework is tough as are the exams and quizzes, lots of mandatory lectures.

He has a lot of passion for what he teaches and he really wants you to be successful in his class. He comes up with the greatest analogies for whatever idea he is presenting, while they are pretty funny and unusual they work well and they stick with you easier. He will make sure that you will get a good grade as long as you really try your best.

Words cant even begin to express how much fun I had in this class. McNeil is hands down one of my favorite professors here. He makes everything easy to understand, even though the lectures can be confusing at times. An A is achievable if you put in the time. Overall though, i woud DEF reccomend him to anyone interested in taking econ.

I took his ECON 1 class, and although I ended up with a C, I would consider him one of my favorite teachers at IVC. If you have the effort, an A is easily achievable. The homework is important because it is the content on the test. He makes youtube videos on his free time that are basically lectures from class, so he cares about his students succes

Took him for the 8 wk Macro course. Spent first 4 weeks on Micro. Poorly structured class, writes random words on board while lecturing. Dates for tests, homework, & quizzes were always changing. Didnt take one of the tests b/c he fell behind in lectures and lost the chance to drop lowest test score. Doesnt use terminology from book. Dont take.

His class is fun and he is there to help, but he doesn't give you any chance to write notes. His study guide are so much hard and aren't helpful at all, the test are completely different from them. If you want my advice don't take him if you want a good grade. I was the only student who has the book, he teaches differently of the book which is bad

Professor Mcneil is one of those professors who you just have to trust. He has been teaching economics for just about as long as it has existed, and can therefore explain complex ideas in a way that you just get. Do the homework and ask questions. They really help you prepare for tests and Professor Mcneil is more than willing to help.

He really knows his stuff. I took a couple of Econ classes at a top 50 university before transferring to IVC, and Professor McNeil is the best Econ teacher I have ever had. He teaches in a way that is easy for students to conceptualize and although the lectures can feel long at times, he is very witty and intelligent when he teaches.
