He seems like a nice enough guy, but I really didn't like the subject matter of his class. The entire First Year Reading NYC program is RIDICULOUS and BS.. and HE is head of the program! He basically grades you based on how much he likes you also. My hatred of the program makes me very biased however, as an evaluator of his teaching skills.

Comment:
Like other reviews state, he's conceited. When you ask him what he thinks of something, his response generally is, "What do you think it is?" His false profundity, lack of clarity, and general condescending nature make potentially interesting material nearly intolerable. Insurmountable, corny arrogance.

I hate when arrogance gets in the way of teaching. He's late, doesn't always come to class, keeps you ten minutes later than when class is supposed to end, grades with the check/plus/minus system which has no value and doesn't cover the material in the order assigned. I should have dropped this class the first day but everyone said he was so great.

I have never encountered a more conceited person. He loves to go off topic about how good he is at Spanish, how good his translation of Lorca's poetry is, etc. It annoys a lot of us because anything that didn't have to do with Lorca, he was closed minded to. I liked some of his discussions at the beginning but I began to hate a great poet.

Great teacher! My favorite I have had at the school. He leads great discussions and gets the kids that normally don't talk to talk (this is a good thing). Just overall and excellent teacher.
