Mark is a great teacher until you know him on a one to one basis. When that happens he expects more of you, and your work load will increase but otherwise he is a very knowledgeable teacher and friend.

Comment:

Mark Stone is a really good teacher. He is very knowledgeable and shares his experiences with the class, which is pretty interesting. He is also a pretty nice guy. The class is not bad at all, you just have to stay on top of your assignments. There are weekly journals but they're not too bad. The only downside is that we do a lot of group projects.

Mark Stone is the most patient man I've ever met in my life. Just be responsible, just do your work and be respectful not only to Mark but to the other students and to the class subject. It's not hard. You will learn something for sure. I loved this class, esp. with the new format!!

Stone is awesome. He knows his material inside out, he can jam African drums better than most African musicians. He is sincere, kind, caring, and serious about the musical topic. Some in the class shw up late, cell ph ringing, the pearls r being cast before swine! take this class!

It is difficult for students who live in Western music to get into Mark. I had no idea going in and his passion transferred over to me immediately. The response essays? Purpose:to be able to talk about the unfamilliar. He can make cry babies quickly.
