Mark is an awesome professor who really makes first year Chem an enjoyable course. He is very clear with his lecture material and makes students feel comfortable about asking questions in class. Tests were tough, but if you study hard, do all the CAPA and practice problems in the text book you'll do fine.

Comment:

He does a great job at teaching intro chem and if you attend class you will be able to grasp the material fairly easily. The multiple choice exams on the other hand are not the best way to test chemistry knowledge and many students did not do well when taking that into account. As long as you do the practice problems and seek help, it'll be easy.

Comment:

The way the chem program works at Dalhousie is that everyone writes the same tests regardless of the lecturer you have so the tests are not his fault. He teaches the class straight from the book and easy to follow and is also funny at times. Although I did decently in these courses the tests have been known for being 100% multiple choice be warned.

Mark Stradiotto was the lecturer for Chem 1012 during the winter. He pretty much follows the book, elaborates on the important points, and does examples from it, though he's always willing to answer any questions asked. He's known for saying "I have a tear in my eye" when he asks a question and a student answers it correctly during lectures.

He pretty much just follows the book, which is fine since the book has everything you need for the class. He can get kind of dry since he's just following the book, but not really much else he can do. Exams are straightforward as long as you make sure you understand the content; there will be a trick question on it in all likelihood.

This prof is very good at teaching. He spends extra time to make sure that everyone understands the concepts. I genuinely feel like he cares about each student. I find the course and exams very easy but I know some find them difficult. He is a perfect prof for a first yr class and is much better than the CHEM1011 prof!

Mark was awesome. I probably didn't need to attend class, but actually enjoyed going because of the prof. He is funny, entertaining, and an all around stellar professor. I couldn't have asked for someone more adept at teaching first year chemistry.

Dr. Stadiotto knows his material, and is a well-intentioned and helpful professor. He does make mistakes while teaching sometimes, but in general it didn't really affect teaching quality. Good teaching, and funny in an awkward way. Only problem is his exams are much harder and time-consuming than in-class material - do lots of practice questions!!!

Mark is a very nice man, unfortunately he's not a skilled educator. He contradicts himself quite often and gets very angry about the use of cell phones in class. Can be quite preachy at times. nice guy though.

Best chemistry professor! He was so easy to understand and didn't complicate anything. Loved going to class just because he was teaching. Attendance is definitely mandatory though, it's very easy to fall behind and get confused if you miss a class

I would often go to different timeslots for my other classes, just so I could manage to go to Stradiotto's lectures instead of my own Chem prof's. The topics seemed so much clearer and interesting when taught by him, and I was then less likely to fall asleep in the incredibly warm CHEM 125 classroom.

I absolutely love Dr. Mark!!! He is very good at lecturing and is a very talented individual. Dalhousie is truly lucky to have him. He explains concepts so well and he encourages students to ask questions all the time. He is very good at answering that start with "why". He knows his material!

The best prof I have had thus far. I have never been in a class the size that I was (about 100 ppl) and feel so comfortable to ask questions. He always has time to listen to what you have to say, and never makes you feel singled out. chemistry is now my favorite subject and i am changing my major to chemistry.

Stradiotto is one of the best profs I've had. He is excellent at explaining concepts and is devoted to his students understanding the material not to mention hilarious. I would definitely recommend taking a course with him.
