This guy is awesome. IF you studied for 5 hours and got a 56..then you weren't studying all along as Usry states over and over. Large classes take time to get exams out. Totally student oriented. Totally available when I needed help. JMU sucks for letting him leave.

lets class out late 98% of the time. LONG exam questions and answers for a 50 min class. wastes 1st 10 min. of it. vague on paper requirements. EXPECTS U TO READ AS ASSIGNED. calls on random people. wont have assignments, then suddenly have 5! pay attention to oral and syllabus guidelines for assignments. cheat sheet for exams. a lot of info.

one of the easiest teachers, no attendance policy but you should still go because the test are from the powerpoint slides which he goes over in detail. 3 exams and a final mostly from the book and a lot of assignments and extra credit which help your grade, on each exam you are allowed to have a cheat sheet, his lectures are also very interesting.

he is the best professor that i have ever had. he is so helpful when i was having trouble with my test. if you fall asleep in his class, you are crazy. he is sucha good speaker, he even inspired people to change thier majors to law! all the work you do in that class is never for nothing, it's all to help your grade in some way. TAKE HIM!

Usry is by far the best teacher I have ever had at JMU. He makes his lectures very entertaining and is very clear in his explanations. The only grades are tests and assignments and as long as you do the assignment you will get an A. The tests are a little hard but if you just study the powerpoints you will do well. Take him if you can!!!

Usry was awesome. Clear objectives and expectations, good powerpoints. Fun in class with real life stories from his law practice and life. Very helpful, anytime I had a question. Tests were hard. Some questions tricky, but he always made good with extra points. Assignments and limted extra credit help with the finial grade. Take this man!!!!!

easy B, study study study for his exams! they are tricky and can be difficult (only 50 minutes for 50 questions which are all application) there are no HW assignments and attendance is not necessary, but definately helps! hes a very nice guy, would definately recommend!

get a cheat sheet for each test, make sure to copy your power points almost word for word onto the cheat sheets, the man is a fan of list multiple choice questions. GO to class, lectures are actually pretty interesting and will add stuff to your powerpoints, which you will copy word for word in order to do well on the tests. NOT an easy A, okay B.

Usry has changed over the past year. Previous students convinced me to take him but this year the final wasn't optional, his tests were extremely hard, and he barely gave any extra quizzes. Curves on tests weren't even that helpful. Everyone I knew had a C+ and when I approached him he gave mean feedback/wasn't helpful. Wouldn't recommend him.

Awesome, amazing professor. Usry it the one to take for 218. Hard, but fair tests, some homework. Stay caught up! Read before class and use the PP for study guides. Always available to help, really cares about students. Definately knows his stuff and works hard to make the class totally relevant. Still not sure if he is a Demo or Repub. He is great

Dr. U is a terrific professor! No attendance policy. Rarely no homework. Few simple but helpful class work assignments. Tests are a bit difficult because of the wording and time restriction:50 questions,50 minutes. Make sure to print Power Point slides and read the text before class. You also learn a great deal of valuable info from him.

Usry is awesome,bull**** on the comment below. He is always there when you need him and incredibly helpful. The most sincerely interested in his students professor I have ever had. Tests in both classes are fair. Class examples are great. I did not have to take 497, did only because Usry taught it. This is the BLAW prof to take at JMU.
