Experimental painting + drawing with Nora was an awesome class! It was really flexible, easy and open ended. As long as you make work, put in effort and allow yourself to experiment you will do well. She provides materials for the first half of the semester and there is only 1 artist research / presentation project. I would recommend this class

I took painting IV and did well in the course. Nora is very giving of her time and more than willing to help. That being said, my only complaint is she is often too kind in her critique. Painters need criticism to foment further thinking and artistic growth.

Very precise about critiques and very true. She is trained from the old school of artists and is very thorough about making sure you understand WHY you're creating your work. Very good about helping you understand what you're doing. Very tough but very worth it. You will really learn about painting with her. Grad student and learned a lot!

i really like her as a person, but the class has a LOT of work. she's very nice and grades based on improvement. since it's an art level 1 requirement, i think as long as you put in a real effort she'll give you at least a B-
