I never really appreciated Dr. Straznicky until I went to her office hours. The lectures are engaging if you actually read/enjoyed/understood the readings, and she tries to touch on real world things, which sometimes makes it seem like the lecture is off topic. However, she is very helpful 1 on 1, and she is such a kind person. Discuss with her!

Goes on rants or full lectures about things that are irreverent to the texts were discussing at the time.

Heres the thing about ENGL100. Prof Straznicky is actually a great lecturer, but ENGL100 is NOT a class where lectures matter. I attended two lectures. ALL year. And I got an A. Tutorials are really essential (that's where you actually learn stuff) but the lectures are pointless, unless you have NO idea how to close read, they're basically seminars

Never read such wrong reviews of a Prof before (see below). In my top 2 fave profs of all time - so helpful and clear, great lecturer, looks for ways to give you credit, work hard and do well. It's that simple. Fantastic human being, I only wish I had taken classes with her sooner! Gives you every possibility to succeed

I've skipped every class since February and my grades haven't changed one bit. I don't dislike Dr. Straznicky, but she is NOT a lecturer. The subject matter is irrelevant to the curriculum. I bet she'd be a good seminar prof.

Just rambled a lot. Not too much actual information, and nothing I found useful in the realm of English. Spent a whole lecture talking about why the theatre Shakespeare performed in was important.

Although I love Shakespeare I found the course to be a re-hatched jumble of high school material. She frequently cancelled lectures and seemed more interested in funding her own publications than being a professor. Definitely not challenging, very boring and lectures are not necessary to attend in order to achieve a high grade.

Excellent prof! I did so well in her class, and a variety of assignments helped, you can actually be creative with Shakespeare and not write 5 typical essays for your mark

The course itself is very interesting-thank god. She has a tendency to love hearing her own voice too much so everyone gets bored. Her classes are not very well structured. I have learned a lot but she is unaccomidating and not interested in her students. She thought that "et tu brute" was French :S

She's such an enthusiastic teacher - trying to get the students to look at Shakespeare from a different perspective. Responsive to class needs. Occasionally goes off on tangents - but usually about interesting stuff re. Shakespeare. Overall an amazing porf.

She is very nice but not that interested in her students. She is rigid and not flexible. I was disappointed because i heard so many good things going in to the class. Defintinely not living up to the hype

Professor Straznicky is wonderful. She is such an inspiring and engaging woman. She is unorthodox in how she runs her class but it pays off because we see that she is truly interested in the material she is teaching. She made English fun instead of pretentious.

This prof is amazing!! She is by far the most caring prof at queens. She has no prob giving extensions. She pushes back deadlines if she feels the class will not be able to get an assignment done on time and is very aproachable. If you want a high grade take this course!
