Great, enthusiastic prof. You can tell he really enjoys what he teaches. He very clearly outlines concepts and gives lots of practice for midterms and exams. Nevertheless, his exams are are bit on the harder side, but I think that might just be because he's teaching ochem.

Prof. Tanner is great! He explains things in details and he is super patient! I am sure that he is the reason why I received good grade for this course.

He seems super nice during lectures but can sometimes treat questions as if their stupid which discourages people from asking them

He's kinda like the funny uncle/grandpa guy, really nice and cares about his students' learning. CHEM233 is a "flipped classroom" course, so we watch the video lectures and then he would go over them and give us some extra notes to clarify the videos and would give us some helpful tips for remembering the various reactions.

What a nightmare of a class. Nice enough guy, but unclear explanations, and poor at explaining concepts. Hard to reach; most of the ancillary support is done through TAs in the department (300 student sections, so fair, but still). The worksheets were standardized; occasionally he'd give us the wrong answer and make fun of the students.

switched classroom format (watch online videos before coming to class) but he goes over the info in class and does a very helpful worksheet with you. Very nice guy and clear but his writing can be very small and sloppy. So many different reactions to memorize it gets much harder after the first midterm. Textbook wasn't that helpful. Av was 59

This course relies on you to watch the online prep videos. In class notes are pretty short and focuses on worksheets. The class itself is pretty tough, however, Tanner makes sure that everything you learn is useful for a test. Always pretty happy and introduced topics in a way that was fairly easy to understand.

Not a patient prof. Doesn't explain things patiently (especially during office hour). He may think our questions are so stupid which really discourage students' intention of learning. Really frustrated with the prof. The course itself is pretty hard and it really needs a nice, patient prof who encourage students keep learning.

Funny. Very willing to help during office hours. Available during exam time. Sometimes wanders off topic if a student asks an unrelated question. For some reason, our section's average was the lowest at around 10% lower than the average - not sure why. He was, by far, not the worse prof teaching.

Make chem 233 much easier, but you still really have to buckle down for this course. You have to continually study for this course like an exam is around the corner in order to do 75%+ in the class. Don't use textbook, study only the worksheets, online problem sets, and practice exams & you'll be okay.

Good explanations, good lectures, lots of study material, establishes intrest, fair grading scheme. He does everything you would expect a professor to do, and even though it is a hard course he really doesn't place much of a burden on the students.

It's his first time teaching this course, and I'd say he's doing a pretty good job! Clear notes, good explanations, really friendly to us, quite a nice breath of fresh air from Piers, that's for sure!
