Kandrack is quite the character, she is extremely Left- Winged and will try and drill your head with her beliefs. She goes off topic almost every day for 25 minutes straight. She'll cancel class whenever she feels like it so check your emails before every class. That being so, her lectures are interesting, for the wrong reasons though.

introduction to Sociology? more like introduction to Radical left wing ideology. She's an example of a an extreme leftist. you can call this class "Socializing with peers in regards to global events 1200 " Really easy class,, but all we do is talk about Mary anne, Trump, and global events.

Tests are fairly easy if you go to class and read the textbook. Mary-Anne Kandrack is a great professor, she makes the class even more interesting!

Professor Kandrack is very passionate about what she teaches. She spends time during lectures engaging with students and despite people finding that as a waste of time, i honestly believe it was a good way to really relate the material to present modern events. As long as you go to class and read the book, you will do very well.

If you want to take a class where 1 out of three classes are cancelled every week, this one is for you. When class isnt cancelled you spend 40 of the 50 mins talking about what you did over the weekend, or whats going on in the world. Would not recommend

Professor Kandrack spends the majority of class talking about the news or what everyone will be up to this weekend, making going to class a total waste of time. She does not follow the textbook and tests are worded weirdly and tricky. But dont not take it with her as she is brilliant and a nice person, and if you work hard it is an easy A.

This prof started the year off being one of my favourite professors. She is inspirational and very passionate-when she wants to be. talks current events for 80% of class time, never tested on it so giant waste of time. Tests are worded funny/hard but does give freebes. Still waiting on marks from more than a month ago. Doesn't always reply to email

Prof. Kandrack loves what she does and does a good job but unless you really into soc I dont recommend. I live an hour bus ride from the school and she was my only class on MWF. Lecture is 50 mins and youll be lucky is she teaches for 25. You must go because what she does end up saying WILL be on the test. No UM learn, No Laptops, No Phones

Here's some advice, take this course with ANY professor other than Kandrack. She'll spend most of class ranting about current events rather than teaching anything valuable. No outline whatsoever for upcoming tests (which are vague and difficult). No lecture slides to facilitate note taking. Save yourself the money, stay home and watch CNN all day.

Do not recommend taking this class with this prof. She doesnt discuss any content from chapters in class, instead talks about current events all class. Students arent allowed to share opinions that oppose hers. She makes up her own definitions for tests but fails to teach these definitions in class. Tests and papers take a month to get back.

Would not recommend taking sociology with her. This is the worst class. It was suppose to be a GPA booster but it wasnt. Her tests are so difficult and she doesnt even teach properly. She doesnt provide notes so be prepared to do a lot of reading. For the last test, she didnt even teach the unit properly and she made that test the hardest.

This is the worst class I ever took. She spends most of class talking about current events and like 10 minutes on actual material. She provides us with no notes and her tests are confusing af. Would not take again with her. This class was suppose to be a GPA booster but it did the opposite.

She started out the year being my favourite professor, but it's all gone downhill from there. Wastes half the class talking about the news instead of lecturing (she spent more than half on that today and we've got a test on Friday), and her video assignment was one of the dumbest assignments ever. She can be kind, but don't waste your time.

I really enjoyed this class. Heading in, I had heard things about the prof that I thought would be a deal breaker, but nothing was true. She's super passionate about her lectures, and the material is easy accplicable and easy to understand. Just read the textbook and go to class, because nothing is posted online.

Comment:

Kandrak gives great lectures and is very passionate about what she is teaching. It's a good idea to read your textbook because she often gets sidetracked during her lectures though. Also she doesn't have anything online, and there's no assignments, just 4 tests and a group assignment for the whole year (for SOC1200). She's explains everything well
