Mary is awful. she refuses to see any points of view but her own. mary is NOT well liked in the hteatre department and i couldn't be any happier that she's retireing next month. she uses way too many sources for every level of class ive ever taken with her. her expectations are way too high.

i have taken many classes with dr.blackstone and she has been the best proff. i have had at the u of r. if you are willing to do the work for her class she rewards you with interesting dialogue and help through her course load. blackstone is fascinating and i love her outfits! if you just want to coast through school don't waste your or her time.

Her knowledge is vast, and she had a passion for her subject matter. She focuses on creating a good rapport with her students as she will see the serious ones over and over again. Her marking is clear and provides excellent feedback for improvement. She opens her students up to such interesting theatrical worlds. Very easy to get along with

This woman killed my love of the theatre. Not only did she assign the entire text to read, but also several plays and books for an intro class. When approached for guidance, she was useless and ambivalent. Why is she teaching an exciting art such as Theatre when she seems disinterested? I never took theatre again knowing she was teaching here.

Dr. Blackstone is very student focused and brilliant. Her classes are rough but she compensates 'effort' with high marks. Her area of expertice may be a bore, but as long as you do your work she'll coast you through. Over all GREAT prof, Brilliant, hard working and clearly enjoys her students. I suggest taking her classes

Dr. Blackstone is a nice person and very knowlegable. I believe the problem to be that she designs her classes so that the students teach each other and themselves, which can be problematic when you are not a historian or researcher, also too preoccupied with the passion plays which can get dry very quickly.Needs to consider the student more.

the last comments seemed a little harsh. She is a very nice person and a reasonable teacher. I do agree that she may be tired of teaching. Her assignments and exams do not make alot of sense. She does also have a tendancy to pick favourites. It must be hard to be the Dean and then to have to go back and teach again, she appears to be bored with it.

I hope she is gone this fall, I cant stand the thought of having to take one more class from her. What is with the fake perma smile (she always flashes that phony smile at her students. I agree .....Its time for her to quit teaching.

Time to retire. Her classes are designed to provide her with little marking or work. Everything is pushed onto the student. Mary also has a habit of talking way above her students...too much academic jargin (rather than just getting to the point). I found her to be somewhat patronizing.

Mary is extremely intelligent and knows her stuff. her class is challenging but she goes out of her way to make sure you do well. I found her to be a fairly hard marker but still has a somewhat pleasant attitude when she isn't being condescending

I like her as a person, she's very nice but her take home final makes little to no sense and is too much to do in the 3 hours she said it should take. I had an English teacher look at the outline for the final and they said it didn't make sense.
