You have to study hard for her tests and make sure you understand all the material to do well. Her lectures are pretty dry but if you read the textbook you should be fine. Shes definitely a tough grader and doesnt give any partial credit, but she does care about her students so definitely talk to her at office hours if youre struggling.

The lectures can be a bit dull but the content is interesting. Burke is a caring and organized professor and is definitely willing to work with you if your grade isn't what you'd like it to be. Problem sets that are posted online are key to achieving a good grade on the exams (also found at the end of each chapter in the assigned textbook.

I loved her! She explains each and everything in class and knows a lot! She is one of the most helpful profs and loves to help you whenever you need her! I dont know why some people found her hard. Tests are all from the book if you read it well. just 3 tests and you are done!- not even cumulative. She clears concepts so well I am taking her again!

When people told me Mary Burke was a saint I didn't really get it at first, but she really is an excellent professor who takes a genuine interest in her students. Class can get pretty dry (its econ) but she gives very clear lectures and is more than willing to help you in any way possible throughout the whole class if you show the interest.

I took Monetary Policy with Dr. Burke. Her class did not rely on heavy textbook usage. Most of semester we spent putting together a series of presentations (mocking the Fed's FOMC meetings). The class forced you to do a lot of data mining and to corroborate in groups. I learned a lot as a result of the class.

I had professor burke for money & banking and i must say she is an absolute sweetheart. If you ever need to change the date of a test she will do it no problem. You dont have to pay attention in class.you can learn everything you need to know by reading over the chapters twice.She also wears turtlesnecks & sweaters with birds on them, always a plus

mon policy is a great followup to money and banking- having her explain the economics of the market madness was very helpful. this was the second time i took prof. burke and i highly recommend her to anyone who needs the class for a finance or econ major

In no way are the topics Mary Burke teaches relevant to economics. She is mundane, nit-picky, and determined to not allow her students to critically think. If you want to learn all the different types of depository institutions, take this course, but if you're interested in the theory behind money and baking, don't take this course.

One of the nicest and most helpful professors...class consists of 2 midterms and final....u MUST read the textbook though to do good on exams, cant avoid the reading. The tests get harder through the progression but if you do the reading you should be fine. She takes attendance which sucks and class can be boring but I def recommend takin her.

Not the most entertaining class ever, but she tries damn hard to make it decent. Nice lady, down to earth and very passionate about what she does. Cool about extensions but strict on absences.
