Excellent professor who cares about her students. If you show up to class and participate you will get a lot out of the class. 4 papers, a midterm and final that are very straightforward and if you pay attention in class you will do fine on the papers.

Comment:

I expected to be more engaged in an honors course. I'd do the reading, go to class, and then have to hear basically a Sparknotes summary of the plot. It was hard to pay attention, and it was frustrating because there was no point in going to class if you did the reading. The course is an easy A if you do the work, but don't expect to learn much.

Comment:

Took in online in the summer and thought she was great. She gives feedback on each assignment which makes it easier to learn Latin considering it was online. Assignments are all from the book, they take some time to complete but they aren't hard. Also there is a quiz after each chapter but those aren't too difficult either. I would take her again.

Professor English is such a sweet lady! She is very kind and understands that students have other classes. The workload is light and she tells you exactly what is going to be on the quizzes, midterm & finals. There are quizzes every Wednesday which are incredibly easy & for midterms and finals, she tries to make it easy for the students. I got an A

I love this professor. to be honest, I wasn't sure at first, but as the semester went on she quickly became my favorite. There is extra credit on every quiz and test up until mid-term, this way when things get harder at the end on term you have extra credit. To be honest its hard to fail this class. She makes the grammar easy to understand as well.

Nicest woman ever. Very awkward but that just makes the class more interesting. Quizzes pretty often but as long as you show up to the lesson it's an easy A. Midterm is easy, she prepares you totally for it and notes are allowed for the final.

Prof. English is the sweetest, most understanding woman I have ever met. She worked one on one with me to help improve my essays and we were allowed to rewrite essays multiple times for a better grade! If you don't do well in this class, it's your own fault, because she makes herself VERY available and she is VERY reasonable. AMAZING TEACHER!!

Very sweet, nice lady. Lots of reading for each class. Unlimited chances to rewrite essay. But it can take her a while to grade them and you may get backed up on work if you rewrite. STUDY for the midterm and final exams, you will need to memorize over 100 greek characters/places/events for each exam. Overall, not a very easy class.

she's great! attendance wasnt necessary but it was definitely helpful because she told you exactly what the reading was and told you exactly what would be on the exams. she has a slight stutter but you get over it easily. she knows what shes talking about. 3 exams (no midterm or final) and 2 papers (3-4 pages). definitely recommend her!

Awesome professor! Unlimited paper revisions (4 papers, 3-4 pages each), a midterm and final. LOTS of reading. 8 books total this semester, most Greek tragedies. Interesting material, for the most part. Passionate professor. Hard not to like her. Take Dr. English if you can!! Highly recommended.

Lots of reading. 4 3-page papers throughout the semester. Gives you 4 topics per paper way ahead of time, you choose 1. Unlimited paper revisions. All books are Greek tragedies or related. Midterm and exam each consist of character IDs from the book, 3-5 sentences each, choose ten out of fifteen. Then analyze 4 out of 6 quotes. Very nice/lenient.

I had Dr.English for mythology in the summer. She's reallly nice, and VERY organized. I love the way she teaches because she reviews all the readings throughly. Its ALOT of reading though, so you cant be lazy. Her midterm and final are exactly like the review sheet. She assigned 2 essays,but is not a hard grader. she also lets you fix the essays.

really great professoor.. clear with what she wants.. took her for a summer course.. very manageable work load.. 1 paper.. midterm and final & the questions are straight from her notes and she gives a great review sheet to study from so there are no tricks.. im not a mythology major & i got an A.. definitely take her!!!

A true example of what a teacher should be. Intelligent and helpful, made me really like Mythology. Took her in a post session summer class and there's alot of reading. She clarified the reading with her lecture and took the time to answer anyone's questions. GREAT TEACHER!!

Dr. English is one of the nicest professors at MSU. She's very reasonable with the workload and the course is very easy. Just study for the vocab quizzes and actually attempt to study for the tests and you'll get an A...TAKE HER!!!
