Comment:

She is a very nice old woman but does not need to be teaching. She gave out probably one A all semester so if you think you can get an A then do not take her. If you are a horrible writer then she would be good because i do not think that she gave lower than a C to anyone. There are no test but 4 papers on the most boring topics you can think of.

She loves english, is a very helpful teacher, and is very nice....but it doesn't matter because you will never get a good grade on anything. She destroys papers with grading and gives near impossible quizzes almost everyday in class. If you're an English major you might enjoy the class, but otherwise avoid her at all costs.

First impression: Gwin is extremely sweet. Keep going to class: rips you up. Papers' criteria are ridiculous. Tests are tough - get a study group. Good discussion IF you have good and humorous classmates. Hope for the best and pray a lot. Good luck.

VERY tough, she can be a rude awakening for incoming freshmen. Strict on grading, and can tear a paper to shreds. But...if you listen to her, one can improve and get a decent grade in the class. Not a teacher I would recommend to a student that does not like to write.

First B I ever made here. Extremely hard. Very nice lady, but no business teaching. Definitely take someone else if you can. Never made an A on a test or paper. Terminally boring also. Will give you self esteem issues and make you want to stab a pencil in your eye.

My first B at Auburn, and I've taken Engineering Physics I, Calculus I and II, and Chemistry. Tears your papers apart. Most boring English class I have ever taken. Lectures are pointless.

Lectures are very boring, although she is a super sweet lady. I felt kinda bad being bored because she was so nice and sincere. Is willing to help if needed, but it won't help out on the tests. Papers were pretty easy, but the tests were a little tough.

Knows alot about English, too much in fact. she tends to grade rather hard, i mad high A's on my papers in high school and never got anything above a C in that class. she is very nice and means well but the classes can be very boring... VERY boring, as all english classes are.

Nice lady, but she is super boring! She gives reading quizzes almost everyday, so if you read (or at least look at cliff notes) and do well on the quizzes you will do ok. She is a hard grader on papers and is never clear about what she wants. Not the worst teacher ever, but if you get a chance take someone else.

Dr. Gwin is really difficult and her quiz questions are impossible. She grades the first essay extremely hard to weed people out, but stick it out and talk to her. IF YOU MEET WITH THIS WOMAN FOR A CONFERENCE IT WILL PAY OFF! PROMISE! She's very passionate about English and expects you to treat it like a major-related class.

I love Dr. Gwin! She is the cutest, nicest older lady ever. I got a C on the first paper and A on the next. She is very passionate and the class in not hard... just GO TO CLASS and meet her for conferences. I love her.

She's not so bad. She just wants people to be as interested as she is in the material. It definitely helps to know how to write decently before showing up, but she offers extra help and mentions the english center all the time. Most people just don't take her up on her suggestion. Just TRY and understand the books she assigns and you'll be fine.

This is the dumbest "doctor" i have ever encountered. She is impossible. I had A's and B's all last semester and it's impossible to get a B much less an A in her class.Quizes have nothing to do with learning. She goes of on tangents all the time that have nothing to do with our assignment. GAH!!!
