Ok, if you cannot get an A in this class you do not study at all! 50 percent of the grade is attendance. She has a lot of class days that are designated "study on your own". She was funny and all she expects is that you respects her field of study by coming to her class prepared. She loved our section because we respected her.

This woman is a very nice, very interesting person. Sincerely, I like her. As a professor, however- she was not helpful at all. Attendance was mandatory but being in class did not help one single bit on the tests. It was a bit of a shot in the dark. Also, she changed the difficulty of the test each time because she felt like it. Dumb.

Very tough class for what it is. Music appreciation doesn't need this hard being a required fine arts credit. I was in band in HS and still thought it was a difficult class. She's kind of funny and pretty entertaining, but she is also extremely strict and will not hesitate to embarrass people(a.k.a. call people to the front to sing!!!).

WAY too deep to be an elective class. Good teacher but there is no reason for the class to be as difficult as it was...especially since less than 10% of the class were actually music majors. The rest of us were only in there because we had to be. She also likes to call people out in class... Be prepared to study for this class if you take her!

THIS CLASS IS SO AWESOME! Both Dr. Powells are COMEDIANS! They make class REALLY fun. You can't get by without practice, though: they will call you out if you're messing up, and let's just say you had damn well better learn your music. But the music is not hard (and I'm a 2nd soprano - one of the hardest parts to sing) and the girls are AMAZING!

SHE IS THE BEST CHOIR TEACHER EVER! IF YOU LIKE SINGING AT ALL, TAKE THIS CLASS EVERY SEMESTER! SHE MAKES WOMEN'S CHORUS ROCK! I'M A HUGE FAN! I'm actually considering switching my major because her class is so FUN!
