McCay is awesome. She was part of a study abroad faculty in France. I'm so happy I had her as my French Literature professor. She knows so much and makes literature exciting and significant. I would take her again in a heart beat if she was a professor at my home university.

I enrolled in Mary McCay's Screenpower Harrison Ford's class, and I absolutely enjoyed it. Dr. McCay is an amazing teacher; she's extremely smart and very helpful. I learned so many things in her World of Tim Burton class also. I would definitely recommend her to other students. I cannot wait to enroll in another class with Dr. McCay.

I took the World of Tim Burton. The class was fun and great, but to someone who has little to no understanding of film, it was hard to keep up with terminology. Just read the chapter assigned, complete your worksheet, write up your blog and comment on others and you'll do fine. Look out for her 2 papers though (I barely dodged that bullet)...

I took her Tim Burton seminar. Wasn't really what I expected, but she's an interesting woman to be with all semester. She's funny and a little crazy. Can get wrapped up in herself and her opinions though. She also is loosing her hearing, haha. Overall, I like her: a quirky woman who loves teaching and is very eager to help her students.

Dr. McCay's Burton class was one of the best I have taken at Loyola. I learned so much while still having fun watching Tim Burton movies. She is so knowledgeable about her field that it can be intimidating, but she is always willing to help. She wants her students to do well and gives ample opportunity for improvement. She's the best.

Dr. McCay is a wonderful teacher who was always professional, and respectful. I took a freshman seminar class she taught and I truly learned a lot. She taught me many different aspects about movies such as mise en scene. Now, I can watch a movie, pick a scene and analyze exactly what the scene means. Also, I learned a lot about Tim Burton.

LOVE HER. Taught me not just about anime, but also the beautiful culture of Japan! Blogging was a drag but I learned so much. She is craaazy cool. Very enthusiastic about teaching. She can't hear very well though, haha. Definitely gonna try to take one of her other classes.

I also took the Holocaust Lit class that the previous reviewer mentioned. She was very clear with expectations, detailing what she was expecting to see in blog posts in every week. I always thought her comments were thought provoking. An interesting class, although I do agree she is a bit crazy.

Took online course and had to blog 400+ words every week (most blogs were 600-800 words as you couldn't cover everything she wanted in just 400 words). LOTS of reading/writing, every week. Her critiques of our writing assignments seemed like she didn't read the whole blog which was quite annoying, and at times kinda rude.

Dr. McCay is very nice and very gracious. But like many professors in the English department at Loyola, she suffers from unjustified self-love. I remember someone telling me that Dr. McCay read a book a week. IF true, why would anyone need to know that? If true, how can she find so many good books? She has trouble picking good lit from bad.

Dr. McCay is the best teacher I've had. Her classes are fascinating and thought-provoking, your writing will inevitably improve, and will help you with anything. The only downside to having such a popular, amazing teacher is that there is no chance for a small intimate class size when you take her course. McCay, please teach a workshop!

There are good professors, great professors, and then there's Mary McCay. Hands down the best professor at Loyola (let alone the English Department). She's an incredibly intelligent, kind, and vibrant woman. I simply adore her.

She is very helpful and understanding. She gets the educational point across very clearly and tries to never fail her students. As long as you show up to class you should have an A.
