Comment:

I took this class over the summer and she had decent lecture content and picked interesting readings. She was really inaccessible outside of class time and was really not accommodating to illness, even after I presented her my letter from disability services. She also prompted extremely racy discussions and made some students uncomfortable.

I was dreading having to take university english, but Mary was so kind, understanding, and thoughtful. She was more than happy to meet outside of class to discuss assignments. She puts a large emphasis on grammar, but as long as you practice and try hard, it's not too bad! I actually got a better grade in uni than in high school!

Good at making poetry more accessible and interesting, focused heavily on religiously based poems and was rigid in her interpretations, with no room for divergent opinion. Gave a grade for attendance. Insinuated I took ideas from other poetry explication when the poem i chose to explicate was self-interpreted.

Love Mary's poetry classes. She has a passion for poetry, so it makes reading and understanding the poetry interesting. She respects the opinions and thoughts of her students and loves when you participate.. Helps for some bonus marks too. Plus if you have awesome attendance she gives you a shout out at the end of term, which is fun for a keener :)

Very into grammar! Grammar exercises weekly but they were short and manageable. Decent marking but zero feedback. Didn't even get the first essay back before submitting the second one. Takes attendance, so show up. Class was boring and quite hard to sit through. Although being on her good side will help you out..

Good class. Material was a little bit boring but she tried to make it as interesting as possible. A lot of grammar but she does well at explaining and her exercises are maybe weekly and quite short. I found that she was an easy essay marker, if you know how to properly write an essay. Must attend class as she takes attendance. Overall a good prof!

She was really kind, straightforward and helpful. If you actually attended class she was great and willing to help you out even when it came to deadlines. She would remind people when they hadn't handed in essays or assignments and allowed them to hand them in late without getting 0.

Overall, I thought she was a good teacher. She really knows her stuff and she is great at teaching it. She goes over all the readings, nd she does lots of examples for grammar. Wasn't a fan of the group work! But this is a teacher you most def. want her to know your name! She is very understanding when it comes time to deadlines

Don't expect to be able to improve in this class, as she has a bizarre desire to NOT want to help at all. After asking for clarification on how to improve, the comments on my work dissolved to rude one liners such as, "Decent, for you." Only helpful thing she did was help me decide that I did not want to pursue an English major with profs like her.

Loves english, and makes it easy to love english too. Very knowledgable, though she does have messy writing. Midterm was fair. 6 essays throughout a full year course. Great for first years!

I did not like Nor****. Unclear on her expectations, played favorites, and soo subjective in marking essays too. I have a high average and got a crap mark on essay no 1, so I ask her to explain what my essay was lacking and what to improve on for next time. After that she hated me and gave me even lower marks! stay away!

Mrs. Nor**** was a great proff. She has a perfec personality to teach english dramma and is super enthusiastic. I think she marks fair, you get the mark of the effort you put into it. her enthusiasm makes me smile all through class. I would recomend her to first years :)

Shes ok but you can't read her writing on your essays or the board. Also she can go off about a sonnet for 45min. Dont know why 14 lines in a sonnet takes that long to talk about
