Dr. Silcox is an awesome professor! She made learning about utopian literature fun, even if some of the material was not exactly fun! She was engaging and asked lots of questions during presentations. Her questions are very important because it helps the students gain new perspectives in approaching literature.

An absolutely wonderful professor! I openly admitted to her that the 17th Century was my least favourite time period to study and she swore I would want to read more by the end of the course. I am already enjoying the readings! The course demands attendance and participation to understand the content and she is very helpful to those who try!

What a joke this class is. She has favorites and they all put up their hands and she talks to them only. It feels like highschool. Hard to believe this is a University class. She's really really nice, but she comes across as really naive and her class, lets be honest.. is a huge joke. You know when your mom tries to be cool and witty, but fails? he

You know when your mom tries to be cool and witty, but it really just sort of annoying and embarrassingly unfunny - That's her class... She'll help if you ask, but otherwise she sticks to her favourties and ignores the rest.

Very pleasent to be around. I think she really understood her students, and encouraged paying attention to her discussions rather then scrambling to take word for word notes. However classes became dull and repetitive, and we quickly fell behind schedule. All in all a great woman and an adequate prof.

Professor Silcox is great! She makes her lectures fun, and ensures that everyone in attendance has a very thorough understanding of the plays. She's a little scattered, but I think it stems from her passion for the subject. I genuinely enjoyed her teaching.

Dr. Silcox is an amazing prof. It is well worth your while to take any class she is teaching. She is hilarious, and super approachable. She's very witty and often puts a modern twist on some of her Shakespearean references, which is very helpful. She's great!

She's a great prof! Great sense of humour, excellent rapport with students. She's very into the course materials and class discussion which makes her fall behind schedule, but you'll love her for it b/c you'll know Henry IV like the back of your hand (and, more importantly, enjoy it).

She's really nice and approachable, BUT her lectures can be dull because she goes line by line and asks superficial questions. You can easily get a good mark in her class, but if you want to learn, be stimulated and think deeper about literature, take another course.

Participation mark forces students to make uninformed pithy comments each lecture simply for the sake of receiving a mark. Shakespeare's plays are not analyzed, students are simply told exactly what is occuring in each scene, as if she is reading from Coles Notes.

A smart prof, with effective teaching styles and good covering of course materials. Very approachable. She has a sarcastic wit which may scare some people off, but should be taken as it is - a way of creating humour even when dealing with tough material. Good times.
