I did not enjoy reading until I took her class. She really expanded and helped me look at books in a different way, but her class was difficult because I am not that skilled when it comes to analyzing books--not my forte. So, if books do not interest you, I recommend not taking this class because the reading is intense and quizzes every week suck

Comment:

Ms. Turner is one of the best writing teachers I have ever had. She's very intelligent and also very funny too. Be prepared to work hard to get an A; if you're not willing to read the essays/stories she assigns and spend a lot of time with your papers then you will get a C at best. Definitely a great class-I learned a lot. I would take her again!

These scores are way too high...she's crazy and weird. She gives horrible essay prompts, and makes you read ridiculous essays and books. She broke her foot during the semester, and I was so upset when she came back. Both of our subs were so much better than her.

I loved Prof. Turner. She is demanding, but we are in college. I went to her and got to know her , and she helped me understand how to write a good paper. I pulled out an A- and thanks to her I know that I earned it. Ask her questions and you'll learn that she is a brilliant professor and person!

She was by far the worst teacher I've had at JMU. Whats the deal who are these people giving good reviews? She was crazy, unhelpful and boring. I dreaded going to the class every day. Useless papers and readings. For the love of God, do not take her. There are better grwit teachers.

ughhhh worst class at jmu yet!! constant readings with little disscussion...if you miss a day of reading its really hard to a) catch up and b) do well writting the paper. assignments for papers are really unclear and she is a ridiculous grader. if you think your paper is a c+/b-...do luck with getting any higher then a D. i hate this women!!!!!!

She is a very nice and funny person. She has very critical responses to the essays you are expected to write but she gives you plenty of chances to redo the paper for a better grade. I think the way she teaches engages the class and leaves room for discussion. It is obvious that she enjoys her job and she knows her stuff. Take her its a good choice

well she's weird and she looks like a witch but she's nice and it's not that hard of a class. have to read like 50 pages per class and write like 4/5 5 page papers and do a presentation. She's pretty chill and really loves what she teaches. Definitely not a bad choice for ghum.

I had this woman freshman year and I am a senior now and I still remember how much I hated her. She told me I couldnt write a sentence and asked me if I had high school writing. Mean lady...I am going to med school now and got A's on all my GHUM papers...dont take her, I dont know what these other people are talking about. one word..RETIRE!!

She is a really good professor and the class is awesome! I would retake it if I could. There is a decent amount of reading, there are 5 essays, an oral presentation, and then the final. She is very helpful with the papers. As long as you read and attend class, you will do well!

If you don't do the reading and turn in the essays on time, you can blame yourself for your rotten grade. On the other hand, if you come to class ready to discuss the material and at least attempt to write a decent paper, you will do well. There were 5 essays, an oral presentation and the final. Ms. Turner is a genius writer but her class is extremely hard. She is very tough when it comes to grading, most likely you'll get a C in her course. 5 full out writing assignments with some quizes and in class essays. Expect to spend a lot of time on you papers, this is not an easy class.

I LOVED GHUM 200. It was definitely the best college course I have taken so far both in what it taught me and how much I enjoyed it. Ms. Turner is sooo sweet and a wonderful professor. I would retake the course if I could.

She is not a hard teacher and this is not an extremely difficult class IF YOU DO THE READING and keep up with discussions. There's a lot to be gained from it if you just put forth the effort. It's not a bird couse, so be prepared to work, but this IS college after all. This class is definately worth taking; she's a trip!

seriosuly if creative writing is not your major or minor, DO NOT take this class. she is the hardest grader ever! her paper topics are crazy. the books arent too bad, but she grades the papers so hard. she is a nice and funny lady but she is the worst grader! do not take this class!

Class is based on discussions, which isn't bad. Quizzes have random questions that you wouldn't expect. Grades are all essay based so if you dont already write well get out. Nice woman but grades essays terribly hard. Can rewrite but doesnt help much. I dont recommend her to any of my friends
