Amazing guy, but he definitely expects a lot from his students. The final is between 24-28 paragraphs in 2 1/2 hours. There's discussions sometimes twice a week and each discussion comes with a lot of reading. If you're into british history, take it, but if you're not *that* interest, don't do it.

Dr. Hendley is an average professor with delusions of grandeur. He is condescending and spiteful both while lecturing and during office hours. The class is easy, but Hendley will aggravate even the most thick skinned students. As for his class itself, you are expected to read numerous articles and expensive texts, but will rarely discuss them.

Great guy. Average professor. Took his class on the British Empire and he expected us to memorize a ridiculous amount of things for the final, and wanted (no exaggeration) 26 paragraphs, all on completely different topics, for the final, and gives only 2 hours to do this.

I would recommend this class to anyone who likes history or needs to complete a Gen-Ed. The quizzes are pretty straight forward. He gives a lot of Extra-Credit assignments which AMAZING, not so many professors do. He is very caring and is the type of professor that wants to help you pass!

Great teacher, I enjoyed British History with him very much. He's extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of the subject, always available to give extra help outside of class, and vehemently encourages in class discussion/questions. I walked away from the class with what I felt was a comprehensive knowledge on the subject. Mandatory attendance + HW

Overall he is a great guy that wants to see students do well & he is available at all times. The lectures can be very dry and boring and he isn't the best at making it all make sense. There is a 10 page research paper, an exam, a take home essay test on a novel, the final and weekly readings which REQUIRE participation. Extra credit was offered!

Nice guy, lectures were very boring though. One part of the course is to write an in class essay on the book Marco Polo, I didn't read it and prob made the essay half of what it should have been and I got an 86. There's about 3 tests and participation matters a lot with the discussions.

Hendley's classes are discussion and leture based and require participation. His class seems like a lot of work (8pg paper and lots of reading), but he's incredibly lenient. Seems a little dry at times, but overall a really great guy.

When you first receive the syllabus it seems like a lot, but it isn't. Very monotonal, but tries to make the lecture as interesting as he can. Has 3 quizzes, but drops the lowest one. Really helps you with the research paper and wants to see you succeed in the class. Very down to earth guy.

I really enjoyed having this class with Hendley. The material could be so boring but he tries to keep it interesting and plays youtube videos that he thinks are hilarious. The quizzes are easy and the essay isn't bad at all. The final is pretty long but he keeps the class super straight forward and reminds you of everything multiple times

Hendley is a good guy but really makes you work hard in an effort to prepare you for upper level classes. The quizzes are easy but everything else SUCKS. The research paper is a big chunk of your grade and the final is seriously outrageous. He tries to help you by giving extra credit but it's very hard for a 100 level class. I don't recommend it.

His lectures bored me to no end. one presentation, one research paper which he reads ahead of time if you want and gives great feedback. in class test and take home test. Lots of reading if you want to keep up but not too hard if you don't. Sign up for a presentation early on!!! He's pretty understanding if you talk to him but very stern in class.

DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF, will bring your gpa down a lot. 3 quizzes, counts only 2 of them. Participation is a big part of your grade. FINAL EXAM WILL BE THE WORST test of your life. 5 essays and counts heavily. He has weird humor and gets on your nerves. Should have dropped on the first day of class.

Hardest class I've ever taken, should not be teaching 100 level courses. Treats 100 level courses like 300 level. Thinks hes making the class easy, hes not at all. Final exam is ridiculously long. Participation counts a lot. Does give extra credits.

At first Hendley will come off as kind of a stale, boring professor, but after about 2 weeks into the class I realized that he is a pretty funny guy, he is EXTREMELY helpful and is in fact a very good professor. For good grades go to class, read for discussions, and takes lecture notes. His quizzes are pretty easy even w/o studying.

Essy to pay attention to in class, study and take good notes and the quizzes aren't too bad. Requires outside work but is a fair grader. I would recommend Western Civilization with this professor.
