Boring as sin but incredibly easy grader. I didn't even do the reading till 2 hours before class, would skim the chapter and do a quick outline to turn in as a weekly report. I barely ever went to class. Got an A. Need I say more?

easy A, went to every lecture never listened tho. do the reading and u do well. you can tell he is a very nice guy that knows what hes talking about and cares but all of that doesnt make up for the fact that its insanely boring, but if u need a easy A and want to take the class hes not a bad prof.

Very knowledgeable with great command of the subject. Best when he inserts stories or jokes into lectures. Course reading pretty interesting, though some of it thick (ie slow, dry). Fair grader, though slightly gratuitous in demeanor. Friendly overall.

Good class, weekly reading responses get old but they only take about 20 minutes per week. Very approachable and will help you if you need it. Knows a lot about the subject. Pretty easy and lectures are only boring sometimes.

the weekly reading responses do get dry after a while but do take them seriously because you never know whe he'll read them. the term and final papers weren't that bad if you really explain about the topics. I suggest using other sources too i.e. websites

Reading is decently interesting, if you're into religion. The weekly 2 page write-ups get old after a while, and yes, he does read them, and grades accordingly. He's passionate about what he does; could be a better lecturer.

If you do the reading and go to class, it is easy to get an A in his class. The readings for RST 23 were somewhat dry, but lectures made up for that. Hoffman is a great guy, and is very friendly.
