I took Pawlowski several years ago, 3 different classes. She is a very hard teacher, but you are a better student for it. I never had to work so hard for a grade, and never CARED so much for a grade! She doesn't take BS, and provides the rigor that's often missing in the English program. This is what "higher learning" means.

First, I would like to say that Dr. Pawlowski was a great professor! She was crystal clear, and conveyed her expectations on the first day! I took 5 different English classes from her, NEVER achieving an A, but B's. I earned the grades (what a thought!!). Dr. Pawlowski does not molly-caudle or sugar coat anything. Awesome, challenging professor!

Literally -did not sleep for two days preparing for her final. Extremely overwhleming...I put heart, sould and sweat and still did not meet her expectations. Complete HORROR!! A 10 week course has +3,000 pages of assigned reading. 10 books REQUIRED!! The reading all meshes together and she refuses to clarify. She just expects us to know what the authors our talking about. Completely unrealistic goals. As an English major I expect to read, but I also expect to have the time to understand what I read!

I actually took 4 classes from Pawlowski and loved her. She is very, very difficult and will make you work. She holds English Majors to a higher standard. She is clear and explains all of the requirements up front. I received nothing lower than a B in all of the classes I took from her.

Complete horror! I wrote a first draft to an essay that gave me a C-. When I rewrote it, changing everything she told me to change, it only went up to a C. How is it that I wrote it exactly to her specifications and it is somehow practically the same quality.

If you don't want to work hard, don't take her class. She will put you to the test. Dr. Pawlowski is extremely smart, and if you don't do the work, you won't get anything out of it. But if you have the fortitude to do the work, you'll find yourself more enlightened because of her unmatched insight.

I'm a straight-A English major and I would rather transfer schools than take another class of hers. She is very confusing and indirect. It wasn't just me--the whole class was confused. She wasn't much help in or out class. Work load was ridiculous. I feel I learned nothing all quarter except how to BS papers and get Cs.

Dr. P. is the reason I became an Engl major. I took her 300 class as a freshamn and she really puts you to the test. She's a great professor, she just expects A LOT out of her students.

Completely confusing, with little or no redeeming value. Expect to be blown off or told that you will never succeed at anything (at least, that was my experience). Mandatory field trips, or automatic F in class. Definitely not recommended.
