For lectures he simply reads over a few powerpoints that sum up the book, then he'll most talk about industry on occasion. Programming assignments are challenging, but very doable. He's willing to help if you go to his office. His tests are the best in the sense that they actually test what we're supposed to know and aren't designed to fail you.

I had him for 3 classes. The basic idea with Aars is: if he's taught it before, he'll teach it well. Tests will be about right in difficulty, and assignments will be completable with reasonable effort. If you can find him for a class normally taught by someone harder (which is anyone but Maurer), take it while you can. Nice guy in general.
