Comment:
Very unclear grading criteria, gave rather sparse feedback (often just underlining, circling, or check-marking phrases/sentences with little to no mention of the reason for the marking - incredible freakin' frustrating). His lectures are very good, he can be funny, and he seems to really care. Sometimes, though, he talks too much.

Took him for Ethics. Definitely a character. At times seems to like the sound of his voice a bit too much. Allows students to direct class discussion which is great in theory but often leads to redundant dialogues and circular reasoning. Also did not stick to the schedule with regards to assignments. Readings are not too long but are essential.

Great professor! One of the best I've seen so far. Cares about his students. Gives interesting and helpful lectures to help the material studies. Grading might be a little bit hard comparing with other Manresa professors but you learn a lot by always being challenged! Strongly recommend!

One of the best teachers I have ever had. He will help you open your mind and increase your writing and thinking skills. Very kind and fatherly. Grading system seems arbitrary but if the reading is completed the class lectures make more sense, but the reading is not necessary because his lectures are clear enough.

quite possibly the best professor i will ever have. not an easy grader but worthwhile - if you want to improve your writing or cognitive skills, he will help you. although he is critical of your work, he is also extremely helpful and kind. most importantly, the class topics he chooses are interesting and stay with you for a long time after class.

Well, it certainly wasnt easy, but it was pretty damn interesting. Dr. Baur is extremely smart, and hes a pretty nice guy, too. Papers weren't easy by any means... if you take this class, be prepared to read anywhere from 15 to 50 pg articles, and understand them for papers. If you're not big into reading philosophy articles, dont take this class.

Great teacher! Very knowledgeable and thorough and he certainly tests your intellectual ability. Class is not for inferior intellects, but those with higher faculties will be extremely enlightened from studying under Bauer.

class was hard conceptually, likewise it was academically. i dont know if he's hard or it was just the complex material, but class was very interesting, opens your mind, and you'll never find a kantian so thorough as him.

Don't take his class unless you LOVE philosophy other wise it is living hell! Also don't take his class unless you write perfectly, because he is famous for giving D's because of a couple of missing commas. I hated every second of his class.
