If you ever have a chance to take a class with him then you should! He is very approachable, funny, knows a lot about geology, and shares hilarious stories and photos from his travels around the world. The midterm didn't have much to do with the lectures, but he makes it up by giving the same questions in the final exam.

couldn't even understand the guy.. he missed a ton of classes. Though the material was good.. it had nothing to do with the tests, because they were lab based and didn't correlate. So it was pointless to show up.

A great class with a great teacher! Always a funny story to share, and with buying the notes instead of a textbook, it was much easier to listen to the lecture itself. The midterms and final are pretty easy, as long as you do the practice ones online! Well done, Broofield!

Funniest and most random (monty python and weird al the last week of class) teacher I've had, always throwing you off with a good morbid and sarcastic mark (how 'bout those methane bogs?). A little hard to understand sometimes with the accent, but overall a pretty interesting teacher. Slide shows were great!

funny guy, good stories, seems very passionate about geology. he should try and make his lectures tie into the labs. i know a lot of people that had a hard time in this class because of that problem.

Professor Brookfield has amazingly funny stories, and he is so enthusiastic, and he actually talks with the students. He has a good sense of humour. His midterms/exams are a bit hard, but he's a good prof. I feel bad for his migraines :(

His fantastic and effective examination style will be the model I work from if I ever become an instructor. Approaches science as a real process and students as potential thinkers, cares about his subject. Hard if you want to avoid thinking, medium easy and enjoyable if you want to think.

Great teacher - covered broad content extremely well. Numerous wild stories about treking in India, etc. too. Lots of useful advice and comment for freshmen. MB clearly didn't accept any excuses for lateness, dumbness, etc. Cool 'jungle' office.

this class is SO hard. i was told it was 'rocks for jocks' and holy crap...is it hard. they have changed the course all around...and prof. brookfeird doesn't explain any of the concepts so that we can understand them. He just assumes that we know

Watch out ! the old GEOL 1100 was easy..this is no longer called "rocks for jocks"..the course has changed and is much harder. There is no text book so you have to rely and try to understand on what he says...
