Not a bad guy, had some interesting off-topic conversations with him. However, we had a 2 hour class scheduled, but only received about 15 minutes of very "meh" lecture per day. Class was very book-heavy. That's basically all it was - reading the book. Didn't learn anything from the teacher.. Like, at all. Chapters were long. Don't fall behind.

He is a cool guy and he really knows his stuff but he isnt a great teacher. The lectures arent lectures for your comprehension of the material. He expects you to learn from the book, which in my opinion is garbage. If you go to him for help he will try to help but he doesnt break it down

Dr Cobb.'s PH109 class took a bit of a change this semester. He realized that people were not showing up for lectures, so he began to have in class surveys (requiring a password he gives out in class.) His lectures are boring and pointless, the textbook is dull, and neither has anything to do with the exams. Review quizzes for exams, friend.

So if your good at computer programming you will do fine in this class. If not don't take it. You learn from the book, the lectures take 5 min. He only lectures on one or two problems from the book then is on google. Just took the first exam, nothing we were taught was on it. He doesn't really explain anything your better off teaching your self.

All your grades are off quizzes, labs, and tests. All quizzes are online. Answers in the book, but most can be found online. Go to lab, complete the lab, and the tests are made from quiz questions. Study the quiz questions and you will be a 100% on every test. I slacked and got a B because of bad lab scores. Go to the lab and its an easy A.

Don't bother going to lecture. Make sure you go to lab. Don't forget to keep up w quizzes 2x a week. I just did a bunch of them at once and got them all over with. Don't bother renting the textbook. Quizlet will get you an easy A for quizzes, labs, and tests.

There's no point in going to class, but you have to go to lab. All of the quiz questions are on quizlet except for maybe the first few. The tests are a combination of the questions from the quizzes you take leading up to the test. He drops the lowest grade in each category.

The lectures are not mandatory, I went to the very first class and not a single one after. You have to go to labs if you want to pass tho. Most of the quizzes every week are on quizlet. It is the easiest class you will take

I went to his lectures for about 3 weeks during the semester and have stopped going since. There is no homework in this class, just quizes, labs, and tests. Everything is online, and I have not opened my textbook up once. I have about 4 weeks left for the semester and have a 98 in the class, and have showed up to about 6 lectures....

This course was a joke. He emailed us at the beginning of the semester saying, "I don't understand the new textbook." Your quizzes online are hard, none of the questions are in the text or from his lectures. Then the test are based off the quizzes. So, you have to teach yourself from online. His lectures confuse you even more, they don't relate.

He is not understanding. He expects you to be pretty good at programming even though the class is designed for beginners.

Lecture is very disappointing. To pass, read the book and work all the exercises that it covers, and type #notes in your programs as to explain what's going on. If you do this, you should have no problem passing. It was the book that made the class interesting and fun. But if you're lazy, you will struggle.

Make sure to read the book, AND understand And practice the material. Most of the learning you will be doing outside of class.

I went to the lecture the first two weeks of the semester then stopped going & I still got an A in the class. Honestly going to lectures, when I did, made me more confused about the subject then when I first walked in. Go to the labs, those count for credit and you absolutely need those grades but other than that stay home it's more beneficial.

Dr. Cobb is a very interesting person, but unfortunately he talked more about astrology than computer programming. My classmates and I felt like we were on our own to figure most things out. If computer programming appeals to you this class should be an easy A - but if you're like me and you hate it and don't practice it - its difficult.

I only went to the lectures the first few weeks. You do not have to go. Everything is on quizlet. Easy class. He tries to be funny, but it is not funny, but then again it is. Super nice. The lab, however, you must go to!!
