A true genius. It's true that he asks a lot of leading questions, but it's part of what makes him great; unlike so many teachers in the humanities, he avoids letting students completely co-opt seminars, and makes sure to impart a lot of his own wisdom/insights. A bit old school but also very open-minded. Possibly the smartest teacher i've had.

this has already been said, but i thought i'd emphasize: all he does in seminars is ask you questions to which there is apparently only one right answer รข€" whatever his specific answer is. he will ask the same question over and over until his exhausted students somehow stumble across the exact phrase that he has in his head. it's a bit frustrating.
