Best professor at BU. I took 3 classes with him and haven't regretted a thing. Don't take a class with him if you want straight facts; he's more a philosophy kind of guy. Read the material, take good notes, study hard, and you'll be fine. He gives 3 hour exams, but they aren't that bad, & he gives you the chance to contest questions you find unfair

Fleming is a very engaging and interesting man, and his theories are thought provoking. He has great stories and often makes hilarious/strange comments. However, the tests spanned over 3 days, were very subjective (the students each submit questions), and tiring. In the end, it wasn't worth the stress and hassle.

Easily the worst prof I've ever had. It was more like a film studies class than a psych class...we'd watch 10 min of some random movie then go around the room talking about symbolism. Rarely spoke of psychopathology. Exams are subjective and have material on them that was never mentioned. Plus the guy makes you write out 100 exam questions for him.

By far the best professor I have had at BU. I credit him with my decision to pursue a career in psychology. Absolutely take any class he teaches if you have the chance!

He is very clear and extremely intelligent; no matter what subject he's lecturing on, you won't be bored. Lectures aren't mandatory but I went to every class because it was so interesting. Tests are difficult, but take good notes and you'll get a B/B+. Don't take it if all you care about is grades rather than actually learning something in college.

While he is interestesing and entertaining his class is ridiculously difficult. His lectures are literally stream of consciousness and virtually incoherent. The exam was 50% lecture and 50% book material, which he never covered in class. I have a 3.8 GPA- I am a very good student- I am telling you AVOID FLEMING if you care about your grades AT ALL

I took Psychology of Personalities with Prof. Fleming this summer. He is one of the best Professors at BU without a doubt. While the class may be challenging, his unique teaching style taught me a lot about Psychology and myself. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who who wants a unique class experience.

Fleming is a great guy and his lectures are interesting but they rarely have much to do with the subject of the class. His exams have 125 subjective multiple choice questions, many of which he doesn't even realize were never mentioned in lecture because he's so disorganized.

A fascinating man with extensive clinical experience and some great stories. However, his organizational skills are so poor that I question his ability to teach. Lectures consisted of free-association on topics loosely related to Psychopathology, and since he keeps no notes, the content of the exams was impossible to predict. Also a tough grader.

Fleming's class was the WORST I have ever taken at BU. He is completely scatterbrained and unprofessional. We had to read the entire textbook cover to cover in order to prepare ourselves for exams, because he did not teach us anything even remotely related to counseling. Tests are ridiculous and ask subjective questions. Seriously, BEWARE.

Michael Fleming was one of the two most influential teachers of my life. He is an incredibly creative, passionate, and outside the box teacher and he is brilliant to boot. He makes me wish I were still in college 13 years later. You will be missing out If you miss experiencing him as a teacher. I had him for abnormal psych and psych and film. I was also a T.A. for psych and film.

His Psychology in Film class and his Psychology of Sexuality class were my two favorite courses through my whole undergraduate education. He is marvelous and he fosters collaboration and creativity. He expects students to contribute questions to his exams. I learned more about psych than in any other class or book. AMAZING.

Fleming. I took his Abnormal Psych class over the summer (same amount of material in, like, 1/4 the time of a normal semester) workload was ABSURD but truly an amazing guy. Definitely seen a few things in his day, has some amazing stories and wisdom to share. He makes it a wonderfully unpredictable class. NOT EASY but TAKE IT! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

I took Fleming's Psych and Film class 11 years ago and still think about from time to time. I just finished a PhD in psych and can confidently say his class was the best I have ever taken at an undergrad or grad level. His passion, enthusiasm, and ability to chill you to the core are unmatched. Your college experience needs Fleming!

Prof Fleming is the most amazing professor I've had thus far. I still continue to think about his lectures, and in fact, I'm going to e-mail them to myself in case my laptop crashes. He works with psychotic patients so that tends to bleed into the classroom, making him all the more fun. Simply put, take the class, change your life.

FLEMING. what a man. i was so tempted to walk out on the first class because he was so intimidating as he talks with his eyes closed yet my legs didn't carry me out bc of his fascinating stories. this is what he would say. what you fear is what fascinates you. so agree. take his class!

The class was very interesting. You couldn't fall asleep. A lot of work required and the professor does not give out A's. You have to do a paper and then two really long exams w/ essays. He is brilliant and has great stories.. Would take another one of his classes.
