Comment:

There was an above average amount of reading for a 3rd year history class, but if you do it and you speak in his class you will be rewarded. His assignments can sometimes lack clarity but he is more than willing to discuss his expectations with you. He provides great research recommendations and feedback on prelim theses and on papers! Great class!

Comment:

A super-friendly, older Canadian History professor with a speciality in religion, particularly different branches of Christianity. His courses had TONNES of reading, and a lot of books- not ideal, but the material was interesting. His grad seminars tend to be tiny, and foster close, positive relationships between participants. Easy grader.

He has fairly high standards for his inquiry class (to do well you need to do all the readings, attend class and actually participate) but I quite appreciated that since I felt like I learned a fair bit. There was A LOT of weekly readings, and almost all were only available on reserve at the library, which was annoying but it did reduce costs

He is a really nice man and a very fair grader. He's also more than willing to help outside of classroom hours. My only complaint is the number of text books that had to be purchased especially since a couple were hardly used.

He knows his stuff, and is passionate about discussing with students. When he gives vague feedback it is because he doesn't mark for specifics....just truly know something, and he'll mark you for it. Exams are literally your tutorial questions reworded. Luv him, and i've had him for two classes.

Dr Gauvreau is a very knowledgable/approachable professor. I do not share the sentiments of the people below(although lectures can be dry). He is fair on exams, and I thought the large chunk of % donated to tutorial to be an easy way to boost your grade.

i wish someone had warned me of this guy, i'd've taken it in the summer with a different professor. he seems like a very nice man with very good intentions to make the class entertaining but his lectures are long and boring.
