This professor has been around a while and although he is really good at providing feedback and helping you with your assignments in class you dont really learn anything in his class. If you do get the chance take Dr. Bates if you really want to learn the material.

Class progresses too slowly for a programming class. And is kinda boring. Pretty much does the homework for you leaving you to do very little. Seems to do better teaching to higher level students...overall a good guy who seems genuinely interested in student success.

I was nervous about taking an IST class because I've hard they were really hard but this teacher practically walks you through the homework. All the assignments are done in class (except the midterm and final) and he tells you how to set up the code as well as giving you the code you'll need. You can also go to his office for help

Great teacher. Really does care about students. If you don't understand the material in class just go see him. He is more than willing to help you out. Also responds to and provides help through email quickly. Great, friendly guy. One of the best S&T has to offer. Glad to take 151 with him again next semester :)

This goes for 151 as well. He has battled health problems all semester and things have been a rough go. You can tell he is a very smart man, he just has problems breaking it down into smaller terms so people can understand. Probably shouldn't teach a entry level class and should only be in upper level classes. To smart for the lower levels.

Incredibly smart and caring teacher. Truly cares about his students and you can tell that he loves to teach as well. He also tries to find ways to engage everyone in his classes and finds the time to talk about current events or outside buy relevant issues within the scope of what he is teaching. Brilliant professor!

Hard work, but with Hilgers, you don't mind at all. FANTASTIC speaker, and he knows his stuff. Very honest with students, and listens to us as well (cuts some slack if necessary). Take any class he teaches, you'll love it!

One of the best teachers in the Comp. Sci. department. He also knows a lot about applied math and uses that in some of the projects or programming assignments. Also has a great personality. If you work hard enough he'll give you the grade you deserve.
