Worked so hard only to get a B+. Super hard grader. Extremely hard to please when writing your speeches because you never know exactly what he is looking for. He is nice but I would not recommend him.

The professor is old, has thick rimmed glasses, and is terrible. No idea what he's teaching, doesn't know anyone, terrible communicator, talks about random issues and never sticks to the curriculum, expects you to hand in assignments that he thinks you will do easily, and bores you to death. I'm praying that future students don't suffer like me.

Prof. Hostetler shows great interest and enthusiasm in his subject of instruction, and is quite knowledgeable. However, he does not do a good job of teaching what he knows to us, and how he chose to teach Discover New York was absolutely horrible. We learned more about Abraham Lincoln than about New York. I do not feel as if I have gained anything.

GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN.. i dropped his honors speech class a few weeks into the semester. he expects a lot from you. he critques your speeches infront of the rest of the class which can be uncomfortable and embarassing.. if you want an easy public speaking class dont take him

terrible prof. drop him asap. WAY too much work- two final papers and a final exam. full of himself- first major class assignment was to compile a list of everything he has published. returned 3/4 of the class' final papers ungraded, demanding a rewrite. not very helpful at all. tests are out of the notes- take good notes and memorize them.GOODLUCK

I thought DNY was supposed to be a BS class...What happened?!!! He is a cool guy once you get to know him and he picks semi-interesting topics on speeches in New York which is the academic focus. I would rate him a 7 out of 10. If you want to do well definitely pay attention to his lectures!!!
