Great teacher if you attend class, do your work, hand in assignments on time and you don't argue. He's still new to NAIT which is unfortunate because he doesn't discuss assignments until last minute leaving everything to be hectic. Overall good but boring class, hopefully his timing and understanding of NAIT gets better.

Dr. Lahey is a fantastic prof, however this is his first year at NAIT, he does not understand how things work here quite yet. I feel as though this is a good thing, he's not quite doing things by the books so we have not received our grades for any of the assignments that we have handed in. Overall, great teacher, great guy, not used to NAIT yet.

Brutal!! Everything we're marked on is done in class, there was barely enough time to get it done as he was talking about himself or unnecessary information the entire class. very little instruction pertaining to the course itself. If you can take this class with any other teacher I would highly recommend doing so.

What a boring teacher. He was fighting with students who had to leave class early and he uses the whole two hours of class time. Worst part of my week.

I took this guy's class way back in 2006, but I still remember him fondly as being one of my best professors, even though this was the only English course I took in undergrad. If it weren't for Dr. Lahey, my writing would not have been as good as it is today - I also wouldn't be as successful in my career.

Spent a lot of time talking about the topics of our readings and not the readings themselves. Skimming an online version of the articlereading the day before will be enough to participate in class discussion, no need for the textbook. Bit of a tough marker and does not use marking rubrics. Focused on grammar (pop quizzes on grammar too)

Dr. Lahey is the first professor I have had who really inspired me to focus on improving my writing skills. He discussed tips and rules for writing that I have never heard before. He introduced the class to amazing literature and as a result I have several new favourite authors! I would jump at the chance to take another class from him.

I love Lahey! Probably one of the best professors I have ever had at the University. He is very encouraging to students who will actually engage in a classroom setting, and although he is a hard marker, my grades in English classes went from a C+ to and A! I have taken 3 classes with him, and loved them all.

This is a really nice guy very funny but he is a hard ass marker like you have to be perfect and have no errors in order to get A. I only say if you feel real confident with your english writing than go for iy but if you dont stay away

Great Prof. Yes, he marks hard; yes, you will learn lots of grammer. Takes time to return papers but gives (lots of) clear and useful feedback. Approachable out of class. Legitimately cares about you (You =/ grade). Very fun, very charismatic. Still waiting to act in "English 111: The Musical" If you want to learn to write, it will be in his class.

Professor Lahey approaches writing like Evil Knievel approaches a row of burning buses. Lahey is structured, methodical, and full of surprising reversals - he also uses colour like Vermeer, and words like Baudelaire.

Hilarious and engaging, but can't be left to lead a class on his own b/c he will inevitably lead it off topic. How good class is depends on how good your classmates are; good ones keep discussion going, bad ones never get anything done. Keep in touch with him if you're goint to grad school, he writes great reference letters.
