Comment:
Dr. Lipscomb was a great professor. He was always willing to help students inside and outside of class. Although attendance was mandatory and some of his lectures became a bit boring, I learned a lot from his class. I also thought it was pretty easy to make an A, as long as you're willing to spend an hour or so reading.

Dr. Lipscomb is a very good teacher. He really connects with his students. His class is a really hard in the beginning but he provides many opportunities for you to improve. One of the greatest teachers for you to start off political science. It's hard but the knowledge carries through other political science classes.

Dr. Lipscomb is a caring and compassionate man. Although, this class is mostly taught by the peer mentor, he provides a lot of intellectual insight. The class itself is fairly easy as long as you do the required work (which isn't a lot).

While this class is extremely hard and you may feel like you're struggling, he really makes sure that you are learning and that you do well. Very discussion based and he is constantly willing to help with papers - you can email him as many drafts as you want and he will edit as fast as he can.

Dr. Lipscomb is a tough but kind professor who offers to help you by reading over papers etc. Be prepared to spend hours doing the readings because he gives a quiz nearly everyday. But these quizzes are so helpful because they prepare you for class discussions. I appreciated Dr. Lipscomb's fairness, both in class discussions and his grading.

Dr. Lipscomb made HMXP one of the most interesting courses I've taken at Winthrop! Not only does he provide great observations, but he inspires everyone to contribute to class discussion. Since the course is based on readings there is a lot of homework involved, but I've yet to have a boring time in his class and he is a very kind, fun professor!

Dr. Lipscombs class wasn't easy, but he helps you. He gives reading assignments and then a lot of quizzes based off the reading. If you don't read, you won't pass. If you do bad on a few quizzes, no worries. He drops atlas 3-5. His multiple choice questions on test come straight from quizzes, but there are discussion questions as well.

Absolutely mandatory to speak in class. Quizzes everyday on the reading. Tough grader. However, he can really get the discussion going and offers many opinions. Makes you think. Probably wouldnt take a writing class with him again, but he actually cares about the students.

If you are just taking this class to fulfill your Constitution requirement, consider a different class. This class is VERY HARD. Dr. L is a very smart guy, and this class was conducted about 10 feet over most students' heads. If you're into politics, this is a must-take, but be prepared to do TONS of challenging reading and lots of studying!

One of the hardest classes I've taken at Winthrop. You will without a doubt have a quiz every class. He expects a lot. However if he see the effort on your part he will do his. Very fair, and easy to meet with.

Hard class but you learn a lot. Show up to class because even though he doesn't take attendance he gives quizzes just about every class. READ BEFORE CLASSES! You need both textbooks he uses.

This class is pretty hard, but you learn a lot. Dr. Lipscomb has a unique teaching style, but it works for him. Tests are based on lectures and past quizzes, so come to class to get the material. Keep up with all the readings (there's a lot!)...he quizzes you on them almost every class.

ok, so I hate politics and such, and I will admit, this class was extremely boring. the tests were difficult and I never made an A on the tests, however, I made an A- in the class. he grades based on improvement and if you are actually trying. just study and work hard, and you'll be fine. he's easy to work with, and he explains things well.

He is a really smart professor and is not completely unhelpful. He has a lot of other things to do outside of class, which makes him hard to meet with and also hard to have a conversation with. He can be very disorganized and confusing in class as well. I personally wouldn't take him. You learn something, but it most likely will hurt your gpa.

I took his political theory class, and had a hard time in the beginning. He is very helpful, but often lets the class take too much control over discussions. I was often lost in class, but as long as you do the readings and STUDY hard for the test, you can manage. Tests are 5 essay questions. It was a tough class, but I got a B-

Great teacher!!!!! Read the assigned readings and participate in class. He gives pop quizzes, but he drops most of them. Tests are not bad at all and he grades on improvement. He even tells students that their grade on the first test is not an indicator of how well they will do in his class! By the way, this was my favorite class! #take it :D

Assigns massive amounts of reading. 5+ hours per class period if you read everything he tells you to. Really smart guy but a little scattered and abstract. Favors certain students (gave paper extensions to only a few people in class without them even asking). But test are easy as long as you do some of the reading.
