Comment:
While MacNeil clearly displays his passion for the subject, especially outside of the academic setting, he takes an evidently biased approach to the subject matter, providing a clearly one-sided teaching of any topic regarding labour law and unionization. He goes so far as to mock any suggestion of business development and/or employer rights.

Very good professor, lectures are engaging and interesting. Does a good job of keeping discussion alive in the form of asking the class to resolve hypothetical scenarios. This is not an easy class, but it is possible to get an A if real effort is put in. The people complaining about this professor are just people who were expecting a cake walk.

He's very knowledgeable and that is clear, but should not be a teacher. His voice drones on and puts even the most enthused student to sleep. I would have learn the same amount of material had I stayed home and read the slides posted. Avoid if possible

SO boring! Barely went to any classes. He wanders off topic so easily, and provides everything you need to know on slides. Going to class is a waste of time. Don't buy the textbooks either, he doesn't use them.

I have had professor MacNeil 3 classes.Wonderful prof, knowledgable and does well keeping course objectives clear.Online texts have been predominant, openbook/cheatsheet exams, one group assignment lasting the entire semester, and few small papers, posts slideshows (reluctantly), however they are vague without the lecture.Easy B,A possible w/effort

Overall, pretty dry course. was a little disappointed because it's an interesting subject, but he does not make it very interesting. Tough to do really well, but do tough to do really bad, almost everyone is around the B range. Open book exam is so bad, but group work can be very frustrating.

The class is interesting, however he is a tough marker. Evaluation consists of a group assignment, online questions/discussion, an essay and a final exam. for the final he allowed us to have 6 pages of cheat sheets, which was nice. he is a nice person, but make sure to attend class and work hard to see good results.

Had him for Cyberspace and Law. Great prof. Material could be dull, but not his fault. He tried to make class as fun as possible, involved students in discussion, and actually listens to your opinion, whether on a topic or an unfair deadline. Nice, caring prof.

I had him for the Law and Cyberspace First Year Seminar... As far as ease goes, as long as you do the readings, he'll be easy to follow, the work he assigns is easy to complete, and he's a nice guy that is always willing to help. HOWEVER, this class was VERY dull and boring, mostly because of the material, not his fault. Attendance is mandatory.

Brutal and Boring. Puts you to sleep, should stick to research and let someone with much stronger teaching skills and personality teach Private Law. What else can I say, avoid this man and his class if you can.

Incredible prof; he really knows his labour law material and enjoys teaching it. He shies away from a traditional lecture format and involves the class in discussions. Those who do the readings will get a lot out of this class. Plus he's just so darn small and adorable to watch.

I thought the class was interesting, and he's a really nice guy. He let us negotiate the format of the exam. The material is dry, but that's not his fault. He does a good job making it less overwhelming.

BORING, his lectures are painful to sit through, he wants lots of class discussion which doesn't happen, however it is an easy class to get a good mark in if you put a bit of effort into it. Fair marker. Overall ok

He can be a bit dry at times, but I think that can easily be cured by doing the readings ahead of time so you don't get lost in the lectures. He's always very willing to help, gives prompt and detailed emails, and seems interested in the material.

Very interesting material, if you pay attention and really listen. He demands attention and full participation; anything less and the material loses its appeal.
