Comment:

Omi is a legend at Cal. Such a respected sociologist. I loved this class. Very chill, very small class, great conversations, and some really interesting info. This class was originally ASAMST145 but was renamed. Two midterms, a final test, and a final paper. Very easy grading. Reading not necessary. AND CLASS COUNTS FOR UPPER-DIV POLSCI credit!!

He is an awesome man, he explains the subject clearly, and it's easy to understand. Even though there are 2 midterms, but they are straight forward, nothing tricky, you will be fine if you do the reading and attend lectures.

Such a cute little man. His giggles are hilarious. He was a great professor, one of my favorites! He made history so interesting and clear. He's so friendly and engaging and very approachable. I recommend taking him for anything he's teaching :)

Professor Omi is genuinely a caring and personable professor. I recommend this class to any first year, especially take it your first semester. My GSI Chris Chua was amazing also. I LOVED this class.

I'm a 2nd year, and this is one of the best professors I have had. The class material is relevent to today's issues, and his lectures are clear. Definitely a good class for your historical breadth. Tests are essays. The 10 page paper due at the end was actually fun and not stressful at all.

Prof Omi is a really clear and concise as well as engaging lecturer. He tells funny jokes and stories. Readings are decent, you can get by just reading the main book. Exams are really easy if you go to lecture, do some of the readings because there's choice.

Out of all my freshman classes, this one is the best. Easy way to fulfill Historical Breadth. It is even easier if you're Asian because you are already familiar with some class material. Midterms are 3 short essays, written in 50 minutes.

Omi is a great professor. He knows his stuff really well and is always ready to teach at each lecture. The course is an okay load, and the exams are exactly what he talks about in lectures. He talks a lot during lectures but he will rarely make you fall asleep in class. Good professor overall.

your grade depends on your gsi. tests are timed essays. lectures are very interesting and important. he writes down main peoples and dates on the overhead so make sure you bold that in your notes. it might help on your tests. i think he's so adorable.

Professor Omi is such a cute person! He's funny and has really good notes; I had no prior interest in this subject before and came out wanting to take another class. He's extremely nice and approachable. He tries to make lecture fun and full of information. Most importantly, he tries to instill passion about the subject and to question stereotypes.

Wonderful lecturer. Really funny! Engages the class a lot by asking questions, and asking us to raise our hands. READ the damn books! I wish I read more. Easy to talk to in office hours. Midterms aren't hard, but are from your notes, and the book! SO READ READ!!! Try and get a good GSI! Mine was the best, and we basically reviewed the books in Dis.
