Dr. Parks is amazing. He's a genius but his class is easy. He understands not everyone wants to be MIS majors and doesn't care if you show up to class. Fantastic.

I love professor Parks his classes were interesting and fun to me. Yes I will admit he does not go over the material you need for the test in class as much. But he gives you all the information to pass and tells you how to pass. I looked forward to his class every week and wanted to hear more of what he had to say.

Dr. Parks is a good lecturer and tells interesting stories. I took him in the honors section and he gives everyone an A for just trying. Lectures are not mandatory and weekly SAM(excel and ppt) assignments are required. He is caring and has deep IT knowledge.

I dont really know if this was an intro class so much as an audition. He wont remind you of any due dates. We barely touched any of the assignments, and he only talks about them once. Really felt like he was seeing who he liked to push down the MIS path later, I dont think he cared about this class. Its the most confusing easy A Ive taken yet.

Dr. Parks is the best/worst teacher i've had for MIS. Yes, he does not teach in class and he will not say much in class that's relevant but he's pretty funny. The best way to do well in his class is to do the old exams and learn by yourself just by practicing. Start by just writing answers to get familiar and then look for patterns in the code.

Comment:
Dr. Parks has been at UH forever, and he is the only professor for TP. Thus, if you plan on majoring in MIS you will have to go through him. The lectures are a mix of reviewing old exams, giving you basic guidance for your coding assignments and symposiums that will not help you in the course (but they're usually interesting if that helps).

Dr Parks is a cool guy, no doubt about it. He has weight, as he is one of the founders of BAUER and he implemented MIS, however, Dr Park' background is CS/CIS, and preaches that MIS is about coding, which is not ( I have almost 3 decades experience in MIS). Take this class, but if you are into MIS do not put forth much effort in coding.

Parks is an incredible professor! He's done his job, now you have to do yours! But no one can be taught how to code. A person can only learn by trial and error. Do the old exams over and over and over again. Find the patterns in the code and focus on them. Don't be discouraged if you have to take the class twice. Good luck and be proud!

Parks is a real cool guy but the material itself can get complicated if you have no coding experience. Required MIS major class to take and exams itself are though. Practice the old exams and you should be good. Didn't do to well on the first exam but I managed to pass the course. Test material deals with creating tables, CSS, XML, etc.

where to even start Required course for MIS majors with only this guy. For some reason, he's incredibly respected in this field and college even though he has no idea what he's doing. Don't bother attending class. Teach yourself the material and just be sure you aren't among the lowest grades in the class. Got a D by getting 2 20's on the exams

Parks is a senile old man who needs to learn how to teach. He praises the talented and shuns hard work. His lectures literally have nothing to do with the exams. This class is a waste of $1000. The fact that it is required and the only option is his class makes it even worse. UH needs to hire ppl who are actually qualified. He uses CDs for hw. Rly?

If you have no programming experience and are like the majority of the students that don't show up for class, then you definitely won't do well. He gives you the tools you need to understand in class, and what will or won't be exam material. Definitely study the old exams. Making tables using loops, CSS, and XML are exam material.

Very knowledgeable. Apparently, this is one of the toughest classes you will take as an MIS major, but I felt it was easy. However, most of the class is self taught, as he will just breeze through the material. But, if you practice, and do the homework, you should be able to walk out with a passing grade. Practice old exams, they help A LOT!

Took him for MIS 3300 honors. Easiest honors class ever. Its a chill class, not much work and an easy A. You don't have to go to class, but if you do, you won't learn anything about MIS, but you will learn a lot about his life, and its pretty interesting.

Dr. Parks is a very, very smart man. He can ramble and get off topic, but he will slip something very important into his lectures. He's very clear about what kinds of problems will be on the test. Practice writing code, review old exams that he posts online and show up for class most of the time and you'll do fine. And the textbook never gets used.

Parks is one of the best professors I've ever taken. He is always there to help you, even if it is outside of office hours. He wants you to succeed not only in the class, but in life as well. If you show your work ethic and make good grades, Parks will actually send your resume to prospective companies. Great guy all around.
