Terrible teacher! I would not advise anyone to take a geography course under him. I was very excited when I heard that his tests are multiple choice and fill in the blank, but don't let that excite you only one student in my class gets an A and mostly everyone else fails! If possible do not take!

Comment:

This is the hardest teacher and the hardest class I have ever taken in my whole life!! The only grades for the whole semester are three major tests. Thats it! If you dont do good on those three test then you fail. He lectures everyday for the whole time and you have to wrte page after page of notes for 1 hr and 15 mins. It is pure torture!

The key to this class was to be there and pay attention. The Professor knew what he was talking about and also had interesting side notes. Study the maps they are on the tests. Sit in the front rows other wise you can't hear him. He really isn't that bad it's just that all he grades are the test.

Yes he's soft-spoken, but he's also incredibly knowledgeable of the subject he teaches. Sit in the first two rows and stay awake and this class is really enjoyable, interesting, and an easy A.

This man is unbelievable and not in a good way! he is very hard to understand and he doesn't care if people talk in class and doesn't even try to talk over them. He stares at the ground during the whole class period and his test are ridiculously hard. Steer clear

Near the beginning of GG150, your basic UI class, he was talking about climate and the seasons. The explanation he gave for the cause of the seasons was that the earth wobbles on it's axis "like a top". Without too much detail, this was completely wrong! Now I can't tell if what he's teaching me is true, so I'd call this class pretty useless.

He does know his stuff and he will take every second of every class to prove it. If you're a geo major or minor, you might do well in his environment. If you're looking for a UI course, stay away from this one. He is boring, sounds a little gay when he talks, and has ridiculously hard tests. Don't take him if you have a choice.

This man is smart, he knows his stuff. Take lots of notes...he has a weird way of writing on the board from right to left. Start early on your paper due towards the end, you have to get slides for it, no powerpoint allowed. Very sarcastic sense of humor sometimes, you either "get" him or you don't. Tests are hard, study and make flashcards.

Dr. Roark is a walking text. He is a very knowlegable instructor. He is most willing to talk about all aspects of geography, he aspires to help students learn, although one must be disiplined at studying, as it is certainly a pre-reg in any of his courses.

Horrible class. If you are just taking it for the US credit, don't, you will not get an A. He is very boring, talks in monotone, looks at the ground, and has bad handwriting that you must copy down. Study as hard as you want, you will still have test questions you've never heard about. Map is incomprehensible. Not much book reading though.

Roark is possibly the most boring professor that I have had at SEMO. He basis his class completely on writing notes on the board and copying them down. This is a problem because his handwriting is illegible and he writes all the way down the board and from right to left. His class is hard to follow along with and hard to stay awake in.

He is a great teacher! He knows a lot of world and give you a whole new world. It is bid hard to get A since he covers so many materials, but if you really looking foward to know about the world, yeah, better take his course! He also suggest optional assignment to help students out. Also lots of extra credits are available! Good Luck!

Dr Roark is a tough teacher, but as long as you study and attend class regularly you will do good job. You can't cram for his tests b/c he covers a lot of material. He makes it interesting by giving a lot of facts about that part of the world. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class to take. I actually enjoyed the class alot.
