Professor Sweeney is really chill and is a great professor. He lectures heavily on thought and idea relating to the readings which makes the class more interesting. Gives mostly a few essays assignments and write in class essays.

I HATE English classes but this professor made it so much easier to get through it. He is passionate about the subject and clear on what is expected. Only 3 papers and 2 tests (midterm and final). I would definitely take the him again.

Basic Rundown: - Great, funny, quirky, old, fair - Assigns like six 3-4 page essays and it's usually on whatever you want as long as you follow the guidelines. - No attendance policy. Loved the man and his class but I was so lazy and skipped at least 15 times. Still got an A in the class. - Nothing online. Get a classmates info if you might skip

I took E101 with this Professor and he was fantastic, so I took E102 with him the following semester, along with a bunch of other students who'd had him for E101. Show some effort and participate and you'll do great. He gives great guidance on how a student can improve. Definitely show up and participate in the class before the midterm and final.

Great professor, recommened him when some people I new need a english class. He is very funny and the class work is not almost nonexistence. the paper aren't very long and he gives you more then enough time. one thing though is he is stock in the dark ages and doesn't have anything online.

one of the nicest professors I've ever met. always willing to help you as much as possible. class was very essay heavy but all very easy topics and easily graded. If you ever do poorly on a paper he is 100% willing to let you edit for a better grade. liked him so much I'm on the waitlist for another one of his classes!

Wonderful professor! EN 11 was a class I loved going too. He is such a kind professor and he cares about his students deeply. We read and talked about such interesting works of literature. He has inspired me to become an English minor! Take him if you can!

Would highly recommend taking his class because it's easy. Not many papers, and not many reading assignments. All papers can be re-written for a higher grade. Barely any homework besides preparing for the papers (which were exceptionally basic and simple). Not the most exciting class, but definitely an easy A with the right work ethic.

Such an easy class.... you only have 3-4 essays and a take home final if you eve have one. Class can be boring but you dont need to do the readings because they are talked about in class. Easy essay grader as long as you put a little effort in.

Although class can be boring sometimes due to his monotone voice he really is an interesting person to listen to as long as you got enough sleep the night before. Doesn't give much work, only three essays and a final. Take this class, you won't regret it.

Super helpful! classes consists of discussion on poetry/ short fictional stories. a few papers to hand in... easy midterm. He's an awesome professor, and really cares to try to help in work and gives times to redo and turn in assignments. very intelligent man!

Took him for Creative Writing: Poetry I. You can't say anything bad about Sweeney. It's a big workshop class and he basically just moderates. You have to write ten poems for the semester, and that's it. No deadlines, no nothing. Just participate and workshop your poems. He's a total Boston guy. And he really knows his poets. Take this class.

Laid back and mellow. Only about 5-6 writing assignments per semester and skipping the reading won't hurt you at all. Being a good writer and occasional class participant will get you an automatic A. Take him!

I'm a science major and I got an A in the course. I know he lets people redo their essays if they didn't do well, but I never had to. If you have decent grammar and varied sentence structure, you'll get an A. His waitlist was up in the 20's for spring semester with people trying to switch into his class. If you can, take him for core.
