Extraordinary. Easily the best professor the English Department has. I could feel the fireworks going off in my head when he lectured, and every single class I was able to make connections that I had never been able to make before. I've never felt so inspired to do well for a professor, his passion and brilliance are obvious.

In it for the learning? Take Trussler. He may be strongly opinionated but he's surprisingly even-handed and you could spend hours debating him if time allowed. Generous with extensions; crazy tough marker; his feedback is effective. Confidence in your English & essay skills feels like a prerequisite to even scrape by, but you learn a hell of a lot.

Definitely the best class I've ever taken. I found the content interesting and moving, carefully selected by Mike to offer a range of different styles. Mike's classes aren't easy, but because he's so knowledgeable I was inspired to push myself and really work hard on my essays.

Trussler is the best professor you will have at the University of Regina. He is a brilliant mind, and if you skip his class you are wasting your tuition because few know their stuff as well as he does. He's hilarious to boot.

Dr. Trussler is one of the best professors I have ever had; he is an absolutely brilliant man. His Literature and the Holocaust class was absolutely incredible, and I am sad to see this class come to an end. Yes, a hard marker, but you will be rewarded if you put in the effort. His comments on essays are very helpful. I highly recommend.

A very interesting teacher, but an extremely hard marker. In other engl classes I have taken I have an mid 70 average. However, his midterm and final essay give me and average of 59%. Lots of effort went into that essay and I got a 58%. I have never been marked that severely. So take his class if your okay with getting a lower mark.

Literary theory is incredibly hard to grasp, but Mike uses real world, relate-able comparisons and is always willing to answer questions. He has high expectations, but he really wants you to learn and to think for yourself. His knowledge is intimidating, but I always learn so much from him. He also grants extensions without requiring a reason.

Fascinating prof: relates Literature to the search for meaning, philosophy and literary theory, etc. Passionate lectures, he enjoys what he does and attempts to engage students in a thought-provoking way. Difficult marker, exams are particularly tough, but he's not close-minded and will listen to ideas counter his own. I highly recommend him.

Excellent prof. Very passionate about teaching. Brings even the driest material to life. Extremely hard marker, though. Nearly to the point of being a little unfair for a 200 level class. Don't take this class expecting an easy mark. He's a self-proclaimed hard marker.

Michael Trussler was the best prof I have ever had! Oh, and a heads up...the picture of him hasn't been updated for a while. He does not have any facial hair, haha. Michael has high expectations of his students because he forces students to think on a higher level which is extremely productive. It is challenging to get good marks but if you go to h
