One of the worst professors I have had throughout college. The lectures are the biggest waste of time and painful to sit through. He doesn't discuss anything that will help you with the exams. The exams were extremely specific matching questions that only an expert could know. Way too challenging of a class for 1001, and a horrible professor.

Not only does he never teach the subject material but he also constantly off topic about how we should visit a country because it's so "easy for us". Then when it comes to the tests, don't expect anything you studied to be on the test. Lastly, he is not only sexist and openly states it, but he also makes racist comments to his classes. Never Again.

Zeus knows a great amount about what he is talking about in this class, but it was extremely boring. The homework due every Thursday is very easy, but the tests are based all on memorizing 150+ terms, and having only a handful on the test. Essay questions on the test are easy. You need the book to pass this class.

Zeps can be super boring at points and you will want to fall asleep in class, but he can be funny at some points. he has very interesting crude humor. tests are based primarily on memorization. you have to identify what or who something is on the test followed up by one essay at the end. there is homework due every Thursday. the book is not needed.

Absolutely couldn't stand this class. Father Zeps is very knowledgeable in the subject area but is often off topic and doesn't provide much insight that will actually help you pass the class. Informations OVERLOADS and if you don't read the text book, good luck passing.

Father Zeps is very passionate about history, but I found his lectures to be very unhelpful. He also went on tangents quite often. You are better off reading the textbook. Tests were very difficult, but my TA was an easy grader because she knew the tests were unfair. Try to avoid him if you can unless you're a history major.

Father Zeps is an extremely intelligent man and is very passionate about history, but often students in his class aren't history majors. His lecture outlines can be confusing if you don't pay attention in class. Lectures are boring and he often rambles about something irrelevant. TA grades all tests and papers so hope for a good one.

Comment:
Professor Zeps HIST 1002 class is an easy to understand class, and it is clear he enjoys the material. However, his lectures are very boring, and sometimes that can cause you to zone out. I wouldn't recommend taking his class as a first choice, but if you have no other option Zeps is a decent choice.

Father Zeps is a really sweet and funny man. I took West Civ to 1715 and even though I love history it's a hard class. You have to read like crazy and even if you do the exams aren't easy. There's one 6-8 page essay, a quiz for homework once a week, and 3 exams. His lectures are cool but you learn 90% from the book. His TA Patrick helps a lot.

AVOID ZEPPS CLASSES LIKE THE PLAGUE. If you take any of his courses you will be required to understand all aspects of every historical event. You must write down everything this man says in order to pass and you must read the book even though he will deem it irrelevant and not put it on the test. I barely made it out of Military History Alive. B

Great professor, very knowledgeable about the subjects and super easy to follow. His tests are easy to ace if you read the textbook and come to lecture, nothing off the wall or unexpected. His TA does a lot of his grading and office hours for him so hope for a good one.

I would highly recommend not to take him. His tests are very random and analytical. Know people and places, if you don't you will not pass a quiz. In order to pass and get an A on tests and Quizes you must know all parts of each person and places and the thoughts that were going on at the time. He is a great guy and he curves his test but itshar

I took Father Zeps for Western Civilization to 1715. He has interesting stories to tell that don't necessarily pertain to class; sit in near the front and you'll hear his comments far better. He's a great instructor if you like going to class without participating. doing work outside of Aplia. It's more of a self thought class.

Fr. Zeps is a good guy and is extremely intelligent, but his lectures are extremely boring. He doesn't really follow the book and basically says whatever he wants. You could easily learn this course from the book but attendance is mandatory. The material isn't difficult but be prepared to teach yourself. The TA grades the papers and tests

I have no idea what these people are talking about; I've taken 3 classes with him and they were literally the easiest classes I have ever taken. Just show up to lecture and read the book sometimes and he hands you an A. The only negative is he can get little rambly, but he's usually funny so its alright. Seriously. Easiest. A. Ever.

Horrible teacher. Tests and quizzes are on really hard multiple choice that he doesn't let you know before hand what the terms will be. Very obscure questions. Not accommodating or helpful. Very boring, and I'm a history major. Avoid.

Fr. Zeps was my favorite professor at Marquette, deepest knowledge and most friendly and supportive. Some reviews mention him digressing during lectures. If you're struggling with a basic grasp of the material that may be true. If you're keeping up with the coursework he adds a lot of depth for students passionate about learning the subject.
