History of Mexico, such a great class and he's such a great teacher. Really cares about the material and will talk to you about every aspect of it if you ask. Very helpful and very flexible with his students. Homework is easy, just do the reading and take notes on the lectures. Sad he's leaving though ;(

Wow, I cannot believe this is his last semester here! I still thought I would leave something on here. The best history professor I've ever had. His lectures are interesting and he knows what he is talking about. He's also incredibly nice. His TA doesn't grade things very well and some of her decisions are questionable, but he is fantastic.

The best professor I have had at USC. So passionate about the subject and makes the students want to learn. Quizzes contain true/false, which is sometimes tricky but he provides extra credit opportunities if you want to improve your grade. So happy I took HIST109 with Dr. Scardaville! Amazing person and teacher!

I had Prof S for Hist 109 & 423. He is one of those teachers that you will remember forever for his passion about Latin American and Mexican history. The classes are not easy but he is very approachable and actually wants to help his students and see them succeed. Take him if you're ready to learn and work.

One of the best teachers at Carolina! Very helpful, overly enthusiastic, extremely intelligent. You have a journal to keep for records of each film, and two take home essay exams. avg. 6 pgs each thats it! do the work get a good grade. Highly reccommended!

very boring class, must go to class in order to do well on the tests, or have a good study buddy, very nice teacher, classes are all lecture, no power points, not the average 100 level class,

He's really nice and passionate. This was a summer class, so I don't know how he is regularly, but if you put good effort into doing the study guide, you will do well. He doesn't like to trick people, but it's a lot of information so it's easy to get time periods and countries confused so you have to be organized!

Scardaville is great! I had to take this class, and it ended up being my favorite one of the semester. It's not necessarily a hard class, you just need to pay attention to what he says and take notes. He makes his lectures interesting, and by the end of the semester I was ready to move to Brazil. One of the best professors!!

I ended up having to take the class a second time, but only because I had a sorry TA who really didn't do much to help me. Dr. Scardaville knows his stuff, yes the class is a lot of work for a 100 level course. If you go and talk to him and let him know that youre trying to do you best then he'll more than likely help you out. Try to get a good TA!

Even though it was a summer course it truly was too bad! Dr. Scardaville wants to you to pass... He understands it is a lot of material but he is willing to work with you. The lectures were long, but in the end, you truly learned a lot about Latin America. If you have to take History 109 take him...

This class overall was really interesting. There is just a mid-term and a final and they are both essay format. He gives essay choices before the test but picks the final one. He is not a very hard grader and he's a really good teacher and definitely cares a lot about his students. As long as you do the reading, you should be fine.

Dr. Scardaville is a great guy, but I don't know that it was easy to really understand what he wanted us to. He was very approachable, however I'm still not sure what it would have taken for me to get an A. Would take him again.

I was scared to death taking this class that i needed for upper level non western HIST. 2 tests non cumulative, 2-3 reaction papers, and a very fun 1st person narrative Colonial Document about an aspect in LA history where you portray a real live person. Very approachable prof. helps any way he can. gives relavant info in lectures for the tests
