Comment:
Dr. Lacombe fills lecture time playing films of author biographies. She also puts very minimal effort into her seminars which are student run. Assignment guidelines were often unclear and involved creatively regurgitating her opinions. Graded us on participation yet didn't know any of our names. Those marks seemed to be assigned at random.

Michele was confusing at times- it's very easy to do one of her assignments wrong if you don't ask what she means. (Even if it seems clear- ask!) She was very kind and accomodating for my mental health- but she was a tough grader- about 15% below what I normally get on assignments.

Comment:
Extremely offensive and unhelpful when asked for specific expectations in essays and assignments. Lecture was useless, although the texts were ok, she gave no helpful information about actual texts or relative information. Fills her classes with silence, and movies to pass for actual lectures. Grades 10 - 20% lower than is actually deserved. Take her classes at your education's risk.

Lectures were brutal, useless and I didn't learn anything. Seminars were alright but only because of the discussions brought up by other students.

She is scattered and unorganized. Her lectures are hard to follow and on occasion off topic. She comes across as very strange and unbalanced.

Comment:
I don't know which is more depressing: the fact that half the classes were movies on author biographies or the fact that she didn't even stay in the room while we watched them. Confusing, scattered conversation and interrupts her students. Also, seminars are student run, so you'll understand the text only as well as the presenter did. Good luck.

Interesting & inspiring. If you require spoon feeding, she's not the prof for you but if you want to be challenged & have the opportunity to explore new ways of seeing, she's great. Why is it that some students insist on projecting their own intellectual limitations & narrowness onto the profs & their fellow students?

So bad. She is boring, unimaginative, uninformed and without a single redeeming quality. She gives you a mark out of 15 on participation, but doesn't know any of her student's names so therefore can't tell who is participating or not! Awful!

Mme. Lacombe is as narrow and intellectually limited as the dim witted con-ed girls who fill seats in her second year Canadian Women's writing seminar. Which wouldn't be so bad if she had any compassion, flexibility, charm. She doesn't.

This woman has to be one of the most offensive people I've ever encountered. Avaoid taking this class if it is at all possible. Pray to Jesus, beg of Zeus and plead with Jah that you never have to experience this course or this prof.

If you fit inside Prof. Lacombe's small theoretical box you can have great conversations. She does not listen to or understand what you say. Give up your own ideas, but it is hard to figure out how to conform to her airy-faery theories.
