Graduated 1983, my name is Edward Marquart. Mike was a very important part of my education at Ramapo, he was a major influence on shaping my core values and beliefs. Mike challenged me to be the best me I could be. It is wonderful to see Mike is still lecturing and producing political scientists. Thank you Micheal Fluhr for believing in me.

Comment:

He is a nice man who is very approachable, but he assigns homework the day before class at 11 at night. Also he is unclear with due dates with his assignments and chooses when and when not to follow the syllabus. Makes up assignments off of the syllabus as the class goes. Also he does not answer emails or give grades back throughout the semester.

His three and a half hour lectures are mandatory. If you leave during your one 15 minute break out will be marked fully absent. Lectures make no sense and he rambles on about anything and everything. Assigns readings late the night before assignments are due

He talks about nonsense most of the time. Much of the work done is graded on the honor system. He doesn't give much guidance for the class. For the most part, the class is easy. If the class doesn't do the reading he gets noticeably frustrated. Just do the reading and participate sometimes and you'll be fine. There's meditation in the class too.

He is a nice guy, but his lectures are pointless. The tests seem to come straight from the reading, but the questions are so abstract that you can easily get them wrong. Syllabus says there will be more grades, only graded on 5 things, 3 quizzes he forgets to grade, a midterm, and a final. If you can avoid taking him, do it. Would not take again.

Did nothing all year long. No quizzes or projects, presentations. Final and midterm. if you read you will do good, but you can get away in class without reading. Great professor and fun to have a debate with. May be liberal but he is cordial w/those who disagree; for that I have great respect for him. Class assignments were easy as long as you read; also keep up on current events so you can contribute. Hope you enjoy the class as much as I did.

Very chill guy. Liberal mind, like rest of ramapo. Discussions and lectures have nothing to do with tests so do read what is assigned. quizzes on chapters. be up to date w current events. must study for midterm. book analysis paper at end. take home final. textbook use is very high

First and foremost his class was a three hour lecture, so it will sometimes get boring. However Fluhr tries to keep things entertaining. His lectures have nothing to do with the tests or quizzes. In order to pass you HAVE TO READ! He is a nice guy and the workload isn't anything crazy. Just do the readings every week and you should be fine

Readings in Humanities:: He is a little scatter brained but a super nice guy! You don't have to actually read the books; just sparknotes. He brought our class cookies once! And not crappy nabisco cookies but fresh from a bakery! He is a sweet heart, lectures can get boring though; bring your laptop if you get bored easily.

Possibly my favorite class I've taken so far (I'm a Junior). Meditated in the beginning of the class. Discussed reading assignments in class. Very lenient with everything. Easy to talk to. Not too much work. As long as you do everything, you'll DEFINITELY get an A. Coolest professor everrrrrr :)

One of the nicest teachers I've had in a while. Great guy and knows what he is talking about. Quizzes don't reflect anything in class, just reflect the textbook and the syllabus isn't followed at all. Participate and you will be fine.
