This man is an encyclopedia which can be hard to sort through. He appreciates people who are simply trying to figure out problems in their actual lives, rather than expecting clear solutions to complicated moral problems. He will challenge you and he expects you to do the same.

Had him, did not get along with him. Was really all over the place, he clearly did not care for the intro course. We could tell he didn't like us, he also argued other opinion that differ from his. Not debate, argue. I'm right, you're wrong because I'm the prof and you're the student. He repeated his lessons a lot. Was all over the place with class

I LOVE Dr. George. LOVE HIM. He is quite possibly the most intelligent person I've come in contact with. Lots of people on here complain about him being all over the place, but he's really just thinking out loud, which is amazing to hear. Assignments also aren't difficult - he just wants to see that you're thinking about the material.

No direction in his class whatsoever.. really struggled with simple projects because I did not know much about religion. His lectures consisted of him talking about nonsense for an hour and then a novel for the rest. He took attendance and that played a big role in my mark!! He is hilarious though, and it's a very laid back course.

This professor is so easy, mark is based on 6 papers that you write throughout the whole year. The papers can be a little unclear, but he will tell you exactly what he wants. HE IS HILARIOUS! basically takes attendance all class so you do nothing. take this as a bird class. No homework ever, no tests, no exams. So easy compared to other rel profs!

The thing with Mike George is that you need to get used to his teaching style. He likes to lecture and will go off on tangents but he is extremely intelligent and hilarious. Once you have a few classes with him you will get along just fine. He'd really good for upper year courses. 10/10 recommend.

WORST. CLASS. EVER. Spoke in circles and taught the same lesson every single class, no clue what he ever expected from us and he would almost pick on people in the class and their work... never again.

I tried so hard in this class, but to this day I have no idea what this guy was talking about. He speaks in riddles. He's a nice guy, but I can't afford to pay tuition for a class that I can honestly say was imcomprehensible.

Pretty decent teaching compared to other professors. He doesn't expect much of his class so he's fair with marking. Take lots of notes and do the readings.

Comment:
Very unclear in class even if you do the readings. People seem to praise the way he teaches his classes because it's in a different way, more of a way you're interested but it's confusing to students who are used to MLA, formal, just wanting to do what the prof says. You're not going to get that in his class. I regret taking that class.

I highly regret ever taking it. His lectures do not coincide with what he tests you on, and he does not leave comments on essays/tests to let you know what you're doing right/wrong. However, when he does manage to stay on topic he does give some interesting points- but will probably discuss it for 5 minutes out of the allotted 80.

Was the class confusing? At times, yes, very much so. However, I learned more in this class than any other at STU. The learning exercises were different than traditional teaching methods (watching a candles burn), but in the end I gained some knowledge that will stay with me long after I leave STU and forget most of the interesting facts I learned.

Amazing thinker and good communicator; outlines challenging ideas in clear way. You have to have an open mind and be willing to think outside the box on exams and papers, if you come up with an original idea he'll appreciate it and give you a good mark. Enjoy him!

I don't reccomend his intro class unless you are able to think at a basic level. Note taking doesn't really work, you have to listen and understand. But he's super awesome and SO funny! He makes you wanna be really smart so that you can talk with him without soundin like an idiot. SO SMART! And a really good ranter.

Unstrutured teaching method and lots of readings seem intimidating, but he's one of the bests profs I've had. He'll WORK for hours in his office assisting students with papers, aslong as he thinks you're trying. Really funny, hates catholicism so if you do too, you'll love him. Just talk in class, and he'll like you.
