Comment:
Fantastic professor for upper level physics classes, but is very difficult. Knows the material. Tests are difficult, but doable. Read the book (his lectures are straight from the book), work the homework (try to do it without a solman), and work other similar problems from the book for test prep. Fair grader, will curve at the end.

Dr. Nolan is very tough. His tests are extremely difficult. Don't expect to gain anything from attending his lecture. He speaks into the board and does not explain himself from one step to the next. Fortunately for him, he has tenur. I would stray away from this class if possible.

I took ap physics in highschool and did really well. With Dr. Nolan I think he does more harm than good to my understanding of physics. The lectures are beyond boring which sucks because I really enjoy physics. I feel for those student who haven't taken physics in high school or prior to this class will have a difficult time passing.

Very tough class. He's intimidating at first, but if you're having trouble, go to his office hours and the group tutoring offered in the evenings. Read the book before you go to class; it will help you make sense of his notes. Recopying the notes also helps. If you're a physics major, you need to take this class to survive the entire major.

His lectures are very confusing and are no help at all. The labs are easy so that helps your grade. His quizzes are a homework problem that he assigns but he doesn't let you use the notes so you have to know what you're doing. I read every single chapter from the textbook and taught myself. He's a horrible professor. Avoid if you can.

It's a hard class.. I'm not gonna lie. But if you go to lecture and put the effort in, you'll do fine. Lab is a breeze and 15% of the grade. So that helps.

Good luck. He is absolutely terrible and drones on and on about the material that sometimes doesn't even come from the book. If you take him, be prepared for your GPA to drop immensely.

He's extremely hard, and just plainly too smart to be teaching. Everything he said always confused me. Try to take someone else.

Many people say he is difficult.. And he is! If you're not willing to study you're butt off, you won't get a good grade. But he is one of my favorite professors at MU because he is SUPER smart and easy to understand. (unlike Goksu)

Do not take physics with him! This class was very difficult and he expects you to understand the material right after lecture. The labs are easy though and the tests are hard. He did curve the tests though. I recommend taking this course with another professor

wow what a difficult class. I passed two and failed two tests. Super glad he curved the class average so that no one would fail. Advice: use the book and study like hell, if all else fails just pray to god he curves your grade enough that you pass with a C.

Nolan isn't very exciting and I feel like he is too intelligent to speak to his students. He will fill up a whole board of stuff while everyone is lost, then ask if anyone has questions, so it's difficult to ask questions that help. Beware very difficult tests, although with the curve and a good deal of studying it's possible for an A

Awful professor. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Basically his main goal is to make it known that he is smarter than you. Assigns a lot of work over the summer and lectures are SO BORING! Tests are hard. It's not impossible to get an A, but be ready to feel like an idiot if you go in to ask for help. TAKE GOKSU...he's WAY BETTER!

Horrible professor. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR A SUMMER COURSE!!! He was completely boring, the tests were always difficult, he was a tough grader, and he was completely inapproachable. He makes students feel stupid when they ask questions. If you want to enjoy your summer, don't ever take him.
