My favorite professor at SLU thus far. I took his course over a year ago and he still remembers me and says hi. You definitely do NOT need the textbook and he has "ministers of fun" in the class... meaning you may have dogs visit some classes, or get pretzels, candy, or ice cream! Highly recommend Mike Shaner!!

This was one of my favorite classes at SLU. He always finds a way to make class fun and provides free coffee and tea daily. There isn't hw other than reading. Most of the grade is based on test scores. He makes sure everyone participates in discussion, but makes it fun. You can skip class, but you won't want to. He genuinely wants everyone to learn

He's a great guy. Tests don't completely align with content, but if you read the book and went to class you can logic your way through them. He will cold-call on you in class and sometimes makes you step out of your comfort zone in front of the whole class, but he's nice about it. Classes will go by quick. Great lectures, easy to listen to

Dr. Shaner's class is the best one I have had at SLU. I have never had a teacher so focused on making sure every student in the class is comfortable with the material. He likes to laugh- at himself and his students. Don't take it personally, it's legitimately funny.

If you want to study all by yourself and not do many homework, you should take him. His lecture not help with exam at all. All you will know is his family and some window he created to help with management. The class is fun but when you see your score, you will not keep smiling. Also you need a lot of luck to become a A student.

Makes class fun and engaging. You have to read the text (mostly vocab) to get good exam grades. He is by far the best professor I've had at SLU and is more interested in his students becoming something other than a standardized business student. You will learn a lot from his experiences and stories. I always looked forward coming to class.

Shaner is an awesome guy and wants everyone to do well. Having said that, his lectures do not prepare you for the tests at all. Read the book and teach yourself. Come to class because there is a section on the test that is all about examples used in class. Very challenging for ESL students because the tests are lengthy multiple choice questions.

makes class fun, but never really teaches anything. you have to read the book on your own prior to the test. he says the test should be "easy A's" but they aren't quite. however, he is helpful during the tests, and sincerely cares how well his students do. the A lottery is great, and even better if you win. i would recommend

Great teacher. He makes class fun. It's the most fun I've had in a class in my 15 years of school. He really cares about his students. He makes the tests seem like they're going to be really easy, but you should read before the tests, or you'll miss some points. Still easy to get a B, but you should get an A. the A Lottery is great but I didn't win

Took failure with him, Great teacher. he makes his own book for cheap and gave us 14 reading quizzes and you drop two of them. he makes it so you pass and the question are simply to make sure you read. its a discussion class and you learn a lot and actually want to talk in there. it is a great class and highly recommend it. everyone loves his clas
