This guy is a beauty. He likes to go over things a lot which is good. He'll tell you what to generally study for the tests and he just makes it easy to enjoy lecture. text book is okay but dry. If you've taken him before then you will already know a lot of the material.

He is nice but IRRESPONSIBLE. I hope to never take a course with him ever again. Don't be fooled when others say he's a good prof.

Comment:
If you're looking for an easy course for credits, don't bother with GEOG201; especially if you have a weak background in math/physics. The lectures are very hard to follow if you write your notes by hand (he does not post them up beforehand most of the time, if anything last minute). I was very disappointed with his performance and organisation.

Legendary professor for fluvial geomorphology, though this course is lacking a bit. Content is scattered though he manages to come full circle and relate to first principles. Tests are picky on wording, but he teaches you everything unless he falls sick and skims over concepts. Study guides are a blessing. Try to keep up with him talking!

Professor Stone is clear when presenting concepts in class. His specialty is in Hydrology and has excellent knowledge in his field. Easy class to boost your marks (2 midterms, 4 lab assignments and an exam). Easy if you are taking other courses in Earth Science or Physical Geo. The textbook is great if you want to expand your learningunderstanding

Stone is a cool guy but is all over the place. His tests are strictly memorization. His TAs mark horribly and he wants 2+2=4, not 3+1=4. Pretty frustrating. He also complains about poor attendance to the people that attend class.. Cool guy and interesting material, but I think the class should be called "Stormwater Management", not "Resource Mgmt"

Dry material. Ideas don't link. You actually have to read the textbook in order to follow what his power points are saying. Mostly memorization for tests.

I'm sorry, this is not an engaging class and it is not because hydrology/SWM is uninteresting; it is b/c Mike Stone is a poor professor. The "learning" exp. consists solely of ppt presentations that are poorly produced. Examinations are based on pure MEMORIZATION; no learning invovled; just trying to retain as many facts as possible before the test

GEOG/PLAN 453 is a bird course. Many concepts are simple common sense. Huge emphasis on memorization though - you've been warned. Take the course it's enjoyable and he really knows his stuff.

This class is not a bird course as what other posts are saying. There is still a good chunk of material you need to know. Since each test is worth 25%, its basically about 25hrs of studying for it!
